Re: Division I Boys Tournament
Alvirne tips in a rebound to beat Merrimack at the buzzer. Sounds like this one went down exactly how we all drew it up. Defensive 50/50 matchup that is won on the last shot...Wow.
Re: Division I Boys Tournament
Central over south about 15 or 17
they were up that much at the Half but South cut it 6 with about 2 minutes left in third
they were done ten when Muciolli picked up his 5th with 5 minutes left in the game
South still hung in there and at it to 9 with about 2.50 left
Wickey was too much for South to handled and he grabbed every big board and made all his foul shots which he had plenty.

A few Questions for ABBALL
A few questions for you ABBALL. Do you know if Merrimack had any timeouts left after that last tip in? I did notice about a second left as the shot went in. Did Goodrich try to call one or was he out of time outs? Also did you think the Alvirne fans were on the floor as fast as the referees were off it? lol It was a great game but I hate when referees run off like that.

Re: Division I Boys Tournament
ChiKid im almost positive they had a timeout. Im not sure though. But i am pretty sure they did. And i didnt see if he tried or not i was to busy looking at the clock and if they had enough time to get a shot off. And totally agree lol they ran off pretty fast as soon as they could. That one ref was not so good called a lot of bad calls. A lot went against Merrimack. I was suprised

I actually thought they called a good game for the most part
I thought they got called a good game overall. A few screen calls were questionable but the fact that Floras was getting screen after screen after screen set for him they were bound to miss a few at some point. Foul count was fairly close with both teams making it to 10 about the same time. I was surprised that Merrimack did not try to speed up the game with the press earlier. To Alvirnes credit they did just enough to hold on with making some free throws and getting a few extra possessions with Offensive rebounds. That to me was the difference. Alvirne held Merrimack to just one shot more often than Merrimack did. Those few extra possessions were huge down the stretch.

Re: Division I Boys Tournament
Glad we decided to focus on the refs...simply amazing. Kid tips in a shot at the buzzer in a tightly, hard fought game and we talk about the speed as to which the refs ran off the floor? cmon man...
Re: Division I Boys Tournament
I thought that one ref had some questionable calls. But they let them play which i liked to see. They didnt really call ticky-tack fouls on people driving to the hoop. Itt just seemed Merrimack was in more foul trouble then Alvirne. Either number 22 or 32 i forget which one fouled out pretty early in the 4th quarter. I believe this was a huge blow to Merrimack. He was good on the boards and they had a bit of an inside presence with him in there.

Re: Division I Boys Tournament
I agree with both of you but the bleachers is the spot that is belongs
we all know the officiating is this state is beyond awful but this thread should be about the kids
Who hit the tip in was it Livingston or Tomacskci?
Lets talk about the kids

Re: Division I Boys Tournament
I deleted the previous posts (including my own) regarding referees. Goldenbear is right - Referee talk to the bleachers please.
From what I heard from the comfort of my own home it was Tony Beaulieau who missed the initial shot in the lane, it was followed up by someone else, who missed, and Beaulieau finished that final miss with 1 second to play.

Bealieau
I was told it was Bealieau that tipped it in by Mr Tomaswick. However I was not complaining about refs I was talking about the coaches ability to call a time out with fans running on and referees running off. That is game discussion! I am sure Merrimack fans are asking the same thing. Did we have a time out left? Would anyone have heard it if we called it and was there any time left? All of those questions are better answered if the referees stay at the court and answer the questions. Maybe they did so in the locker room. Maybe Merrimack was out of time outs. Maybe Goodrich was calling for it and could not be seen because fans were on the move.. All of those questions are legitimate questions.

If a tree falls down in the forest, and nobody is there to witness it, does it make a sound?

Actually
Actually the question would be if all the trees in the forrest fell down, could you hear just one fall? I promise you that if this was your team, wether you were a coach or a player you would be asking the same things. This is a forum, fans of this game come here to discuss the game. The time running out,the time outs, the buzzer, the fans and the referees exit are all part of the game with the way this one ended. I made it very clear that I do not know if Merrimack had a time out or if they tried to call it. The reason I could not tell was because I could not find a referee or the coach because the fans were on so quick. I know because it is me you think I am being critical of the refs but I am just asking if anyone saw a coach call a time out or if anyone knew if they had one. Does anyone know?

What happened to taking it to the bleachers?
Still wouldn't mind hearing how the game went.

"All of those questions are better answered if the referees stay at the court and answer the questions." ChiKid
Yea, once the buzzer goes off in a game the refs stay on the court to field questions from Eric Emmerling, Jeremy Lev or any other fan that wants to ask them anything.
Unbelievable.

Re: Division I Boys Tournament
Game management is primary for referees. The granting of time outs is secondary. If a ref is thinking "looking for a TO first" and "game management second" then something will be missed on the court and the referee sharks will be going for that blood also. Once again I say.......
Unbelievable. Just talk about the game and the kids.
