No upsets in D-III tonight, as the top eight seeds reach the quarterfinals.

Division 3 Tournament
I went to the Newport-Kearsarge game, #1 vs. #19. Kearsarge had a hot start - up 7-0. 1st Quarter was Kear. 15 Newport 4. 2nd quarter Newport came back with a lead at halftime 27-26. Then led after 3 Newport 40 Kearsarge 34. Kearsarge got the lead with a minute left by 1, and a foul was called on a Kearsarge player trying to block a 3 point shot by Andrew Houde. Houde made all 3 foul shots and Newport won 46-44. A packed house - hot noisy gym.
Word of advice - Newport plays their games at the Towle Elementary school(thank you to the Newport Police Dept. for directing me), down the road from the High School(formerly Towle High School). If you want a seat, show up more than an hour before game time. You'll probably get a seat and won't half to walk a mile or so away to get to your car after the game. Lesson learned and I am willing to help anyone else out with this. Also there is only one scoreboard so you want to get a seat where you can see the scoreboard during the game. Hopkinton fans - be aware!
From tonight:
Berlin 71 Farmington 55
Conant 70 Monadnock 34
Newport 46 Kearsarge 44
Gilford 51 Belmont 43
Campbell 54 Stevens 40
Hopkinton 55 Bow 47 (a nice local rivalry)
Somersworth 43 Prospect Mtn. 42(this must have been a great game - it ain't easy playing there)
Mascoma 51 Raymond 49)another good one - another tough place to play)
Saturday night:
#1 Berlin hosts #8 Mascoma
#2 Conant hosts #7 Somersworth
#3 Newport hosts #6 Hopkinton
#4 Gilford hosts #5 Campbell

Division III Tournament
Sorry this is late, but my car found its way to Cactus Jack's parking lot and I had to visit. Dave Haley will be having the results of his alma mater Gilford who I had a good time chit chatting with before the game. Pete will have the video highlights of the Conant game.
#1 Berlin 56 #8 Mascoma 38
#2 Conant 75 #7 Somersworth 51
#3 Newport 53 #6 Hopkinton 44
#5 Campbell 47 #4 Gilford 55(only upset of the night)
Gilford did a great job fighting back after a huge defecit but Campbell showed toughness and held on. Campbell did have a tougher regular season schedule while Gilford was playing the Lakes Region teams that were very weak this year and didn't have it so tough.
Tuesday March 5th at SNHU:
5:30 - No. 2 Conant vs. No. 3 Newport
7:30 - No. 1 Berlin vs. No. 5 Campbell
Both matchups are new for each team - they did not play each other in the regular season. I don't know what happened this season as I know Newport used to play Conant every year.

Re: Division III Boys tournament
middleschoolball it was good seeing you & meeting you at the game.
Tomorrow I'm posting a semifinal preview with anonymous quotes and scouting reports from coaches in the division on the final four teams. I'm doing this for the semifinal preview in all four divisions. I think the first one came out pretty well.

Thanks for the update Seacoast Dad - wow, people were predicting Berlin to win big tonight. Except for Conant, in the Div. 3 & 4 semis the dark uniforms won their games. March Madness for sure.
