Div II Quarterfinals
Kennett comes into Pembroke and their entire team turns their backs during Pembroke's starter introductions... What was that all about? Poor sportsmanship!

Re: Div II Quarterfinals
The Kennett players did that? Wow. The Plymouth fans (not the players) did the same thing at Portsmouth tonight. I guess that's the thing to do these days. The funny part was that the Portsmouth team waits until all five starters are introduced and then they all get up to shake the refs and the opposing coach's hand. By the time they did that, the Plymouth fans had turned back to face the court.Twenty two wrote:Kennett comes into Pembroke and their entire team turns their backs during Pembroke's starter introductions... Still no upsets in D-II. Top four seeds advanced.

It was the Kennett PLAYERS that did it! They were introduced then the whole team turned their backs and faced the wall during Pembroke's introduction....

Kudos to Portsmouth tonight they deserved the win. They played great team defense, dominated the boards and frustrated Plymouth into rushed offensive sets.Very inconsistent officiating on both ends of the floor. Good job Portsmouth, good luck!

There have been a number of discussions on this forum about the change from two officials in the regular season to three in the playoffs. I'm still not sure whether this change adds or distracts from the game. Before Plymouth was forced to foul at the end of the game, I think the number of fouls called were about even, and seemed to be about the same number of total fouls called during a regular season game.
Pembroke must have played some pretty good defense, holding Kennett to 22 points. Don't know if Kennett intentionally tried to slow the game down, since Pembroke scored only 44, well below their season average.

Re: Div II Quarterfinals
Would like to clarify to seacoastdad it was the student section of Plymouth that turned there back on the introductions for Portsmouth not the whole Plymouth fans section only the students.overall I thought it was a great experience. Good luck to Portsmouth on Wednesday.

You're right - I should have specified the student section. It was definitely not the parents or other fans. Sorry for the confusion. It was a great turnout by the Plymouth student section and fans, and an overall great atmosphere, with (mostly) good-natured chanting between the student sections.
