Milford's ONLY UP 7?!?!

Re: Friday 1/7 Game Thread
Central 51 West 39
Central - 18 9 9 15 - 51
West - 9 9 8 13 - 39
Central: LaCount 18 Wickey 11 Brown 10 Lam 6 Stisser 4 Vailas 2
West: Martin 16 Jacques 6 Clancy 6 Abdalla 4 3 other players combined for 7 points
West had a quick start with a Martin 3 and an Abdalla finish drive, but Central answered back with a healthy dose of Wickey and LaCount as this impressive 1-2 combo combined for 16 of Central's 18 first quarter points. Martin had 7 points in the 2nd stanza to lead West, but the problem for the Blue Knights was that Gonzalez was the only other player to compliment Martin with 2 points. More Wickey and LaCount in the 2nd period as they combined for 8 of Central's 9 points. West went 6 1/2 minutes without scoring. This stretch went from near the end of the 1st quarter to 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.
West had a much better flow on offense in the 3rd period, but could only muster 8 points. Wickey was scoreless in the 3rd as he and Gonzalez negated each other. Stisser, Lam and Vailas picked up the scoring slack combining for 7 points. The key moment of the game came with a little over 6 minutes left. West was down 39 - 28. Clancy hit a 3 to make it 39 - 31. Central inbounds the ball where it becomes loose on the floor. A West and Central player go for the ball and collide. A foul is called on the Central player. The Central coaching staff was EXTREMELY DISPLEASED. A time out is called and the complaining continues on the Little Green sideline. A technical seems to be called on an asst coach of Central. Martin hits the 2 technical FTs to make it 39 - 33. West takes it out at the division line, but does not convert on that possession. They could've cut the deficit to 3 to 4 points. Central gains their composure and goes on a 12 - 6 run to close out the game. Junior Brown was instrumental in this run as he seemed to kick it up a notch with speed, quickness and 2 strong finishes.
This was a good road victory for Central. A game like this goes a long way in making a solid playoff team which Central will be. Wickey and LaCount were a tough 1-2 combo tonight. They both do not get flustered even in a hostile environment. Their make up says, "don't worry we can handle any basketball problems thrown at us or our team mates." Martin had a very good game for West. He is going away from being a football player and becoming a nice basketball player. He can go inside or out. He will be a player to watch. I thought West would be a top 4 team this season. It looks like that might not happen. Gonzalez still isn't 100% and not having Hunter due to injury hurts also. Even though West might not finish in the top 4 or maybe even the top 8 they will still be a tough team when every player gets healthy. I wouldn't want to be matched up with them in a March playoff game.

This post confuses me...
I am not sure who is saying what? lol
Milford won by ten in a great game.
Quick summary.
Milford comes out with the jump ball to start and as the ball is passed to Mitchell to set things up. Spirou steps up to match up with Mitchell... The entire gym seemed to do a double take. It was almost funny but it started off great as Sprirou's length bothered Mitchell and a few big blocks got the Pelham faithful going. Mitchell did have one of the prettiest moves of the night with a nice tight spin to the hoop finishing with the left off the glass that got some oo's and ahhs... Spirou got going also hitting a couple of big threes and the gym was rocking. The game was real tight at halftime with Milford holding onto a slim lead of about 2 points.
The first two minutes of the second half were big as Milford got a nice backdoor cut from O'Loughlin for a lay in and a quick 6 or 7 point spread. It would stay about that most of the second half with Pelham getting some nice three's from Anthony Spirou and another wing player as well. Not sure what his name was sorry. Milford could never shake Pelham but when they got to the 2 minute mark they did nice job of spreading the floor. The biggest factor in the fourth quarter may have been Dan Desmarais who was 7 for 8 from the line and was also big on the boards. Great atmosphere and a very well played game from both teams. Pelham is scary. Not sure if they shot the ball as well as they can tonight so if they get hot.. they can beat anyone in D2.

Re: Friday 1/7 Game Thread
In the JV game Central beat West 46 - 45. I saw the 4th quarter and it was a very exciting well played game that went right to the wire. Both student bodies got into it which was nice to see. Actually, the atmosphere in this 4th quarter was better than any game I saw at the QCIBT.
For those who might be interested the refereeing was outstanding in the Central - West varsity game. I don't think there will be any controversial videos from this game

I will ask..
OK I do have to ask, Is it normal for New Hampshire to have JV refs that do not have a patch and are obviously very new to reffing? I am not being a smart butt but I was asked about the officiating by T and F.... Is that normal?

Doc had a black mock turtleneck. Thank God his washer is working.
ChiKid, I believe you would call that dry humor. Lighten up on the Sports Animal.

Re: Friday 1/7 Game Thread
As far as no patch on the shirt, you can't assume. That ref could've forgotten his patched shirt and had an extra one in his bag w/o a patch. He could've spilled coffee on the patched shirt this morning. Maybe, a patched official had a flu that hit him today or his car broke down on the way to Pelham and they had to scurry to get a local official that works rec games or is just starting to do jr high games.

Re: Friday 1/7 Game Thread
He was being sarcastic. Let's end the discussion about the foul that wasn't on the grassy knoll.
Re: Friday 1/7 Game Thread
You aren't going to launch a full scale investigation as to why one of the JV officials wasn't wearing a patched shirt, are you ChiKid?

He was definitely a rookie
Hey you asked...
He was a rookie no doubt. He never raised his hand as he blew the whistle and was definitely hearing everything as he changed his call many times. He was close on most of the calls... I guess that's a start.
