March 2nd Games
Here it is. The last night of regular season games. We get to sort out the muddled picture of seedings and future pairings for the prelim games. We also sort out the muddled mess of who gets to have lunch with GNG, which in it's own way, will be a muddled visit, having a muddled lunch with a muddled person.
Salem at BG: 2 teams with opposite team karma for the season. BG was in just about every one's top 4 in pre season while Salem was picked to finish 9th to 12th by just about every one. Look at where these 2 teams are now in the standings. This is why they play the games.
Winny at Alvirne: A big game for seedings in the middle (Alvirne) and end (Winny) of the pack.
North at West: A month ago this game looked like it would be a battle for a top 4 seed. Well, it is for North. West is hanging on like an icicle on the side of a roof on a 33 degree day.
Pinkerton at Trinity: This game means so much more for Pinkerton. The Astros are doing the "Jaf Posturing" for a better seed while Trinity has the #1 seed locked up. Rumor has it there may be a surprise or two for senior night at Trinity tonight.
Exeter at Dover: This game means a lot for the #14 to #16 seeds. Who wants to play Trinity in the 1-16 game?
South at Keene: South should win, but what if Keene hits a gazillion 3's?
Merrimack at Central: Huge home game to cap the season for the Little Green. If they win they could get a top 4 seed which would be big for them to get to the Final Four. Floras is back and had a big game vs BG. One thing though. I watched the hilights of the game on the NHN. On a lot of Floras' hoops there wasn't a BG defender within a defensive zip code of Floras. With that being said, Central gave up 31 to Gauthier at Central a week ago. The best chance Central has in this one will be if Lafond plays a lot of D on Floras, but will there be separation between Lafond's posterior and the Central seating bench? Merry will certainly see better defense from Central than they saw against BG. The more of a rock fight this game turns into the more it favors Central. No doubt the game of the night.

Excuse me please.
How could you leave out the game of the night?
You write a great article about them, and then you don't even mention them on what could be the best story of the year in division one.
Londonderry at Concord. Five big points if the Lancers take care of business.
Some of those top seed coaches are starting to sweat.
T@F, gotta give him props on this one. He was on this when nobody{ including me } saw this coming.

Re: March 2nd Games
Lets temper expectations with Londonderry here...They're still 5-12. Sure...the've won 4 in a row against Exeter (5-12), Timberlane (0-17), Memorial (7-10) and Keene (4-13) - 3 of which were at home. Those, in my book, were all (sans Timby) toss-up games, probably giving the edge to the Lancers playing at home. Their lone win on the road this season was at Memorial, who has lost 6 of their last 7 and 4 in a row. Their win vs. Spaulding was a quality win, early in the season.
I'm not trying to downplay what they've done over the last 2 weeks (or T&F's prediction) - winning 4 games in a row in Div I is a hard thing to do for most teams this season, but I'm not ready to pick them IN A ROAD GAME vs. Trinity, North, Salem or Central. They've done a good job winning the easier part of their schedule at the end of the system. A win at Concord would be a good win...but I wouldn't be surprised to see Concord take this one with nothing to lose.

Re: March 2nd Games
They haven't exactly "wow'd" me with their Resume. They are the South Florida of the NCAA tournament. Great looking record but until this weeks win at Louisville they hadn't won a meaningful game on the road. I respect what they've done, but wouldn't be banking on a tourney upset. Bottom line is they are going to travel to a top 4 seeds gym.

Final Central 54 Merrimack 47
Floras did not play due to a bad ankle. I believe that gives Central a top 4 seed.

Re: March 2nd Games
Couple of really good DIV games in the Quarters tonight. Fillion from Newmarket hit a 30-footer to win the game vs. Sunappe 45-42 and undefeated Moultonborough had to come from behind to beat Epping 46-44.
In D-I....Pinkerton leads Trinity by 10 (after 3), although this game doesn't mean much for the Pioneers. Its been a game of run...

Hey I've been twittering my @SS off over here!!! I'm doing a whole lot of retweeting though...lot of media members around the state out and about. Love Twitter...changing the game for people who can't get out (especially b/c you can hardly find a game on the radio these days unless its on Justin's station).

thanks spend the good part of a day off today working on it. Having some issues with the main page...but will get that ironed out this weekend. I think you just like the new "top posting users of the week" since your name is at the top
Re: March 2nd Games
Looks like I was wrong on my Concord prediction earlier, Londonderry wins their 5th in a row - 58-37.
Re: March 2nd Games
You have to love that never say die attitude of the Londonderry Lancers.

Re: March 2nd Games
The last update I had was Salem 35 BG 20, maybe a halftime score?
Slepian hit eight 3's in the first half and was sending a buzz tthrough the crowd.

Re: March 2nd Games
Nothing from the BG/Salem game...don't know of any media members out of Salem so that makes it tricky. Nashua folks at Merrimack/Central or the girls game at Hollis/Brookline.
Re: March 2nd Games
Final Salem 74 BG 47
To para phrase Michael Ray Richardson, "The BG ship be sinkin"

Oh believe me, GNG was at the game and he said there are a lot of holes in the USS BG and it's taking on water like a famous ship back in 1912.

Re: March 2nd Games
Just got a text from friend of mine..."Goodnight BG"......can't say I can argue with that.
Re: March 2nd Games
For what it's worth, GNG did say that Ben Slepian is the best player he's seen play this season and that includes Ryan Gauthier.
