December 16th Games

Monster start for the first full day of the basketball season:

Alvrine at Merrimack.... Should be a physical affair with intensity.

Trinity at Dover.... Road show to start for the favored Pioneers

Portsmouth at Pembroke..... Wow Wow Wow. Pembroke's gym should be bursting at the seams.

BG at Central..... A game dripping with drama.

Joe McCarthy had a monster game with 31 points. Logan Kesty had 17 and Cooper Paul had 11.

I heard Portsmouth had a thrilling 57 to 56 victory over Pembroke.

The 53-33 score was not a reflection of the game. BG's starters basically played half the game - Coach Hazelton went deep into his bench early and often. Next Tuesday's match up at Londonderry should be a great one!

Pinkerton boys 63 Timberlane 31.

The Pinkerton bench got lots of minutes. Patrikis played and looked good.

Milford looked alright last night vs Kearsarge. Had chances to put them away but couldn't do it. Definitely missing Jovi Philbrick and a healthy Jared Asselin (played but saw limited action as he's coming off a sprained MCL) They played great D, as I expected these kids all got to D up kids like Holder Mitchell and O'loughlin last year everyday in practice so they got to defend the best of the best last year on a daily basis. They pressed well and played very solid half court D forced a lot of TO's. Thought they took far to many jumpers. Richie Moore was able to get the hole at will finished with about 20 but thought he pulled it from 3 to much. Logan Barlow will have a great year he'll cause match-up problems all year as he can go to the post on the smaller defender and stretch the bigger guys out to the 3 point line. He finished with about 15. Lakin looked solid last night he has a great 3 point stroke was probably 3-5 from down town. Another thing I didn't like was I thought they passed too much. Kearsarge was in a zone all game and Milford would just stand around the arch and pass rather than attack the zone and then dish. They'd often pass up a great look, and take a average shot. There biggest lead was 18 I think then Coach dumped the bench and Kearsarge brought the game back to 12 which is what it finished at 51-39. Thought Milford should've went full court more often, but I'm sure they will more as the season goes on.
