Better Basketball
The problem is that AAU can sell what ever the parent wants to hear. I agree that playing alot can help, but you need to refine your skills. If you are a foward, running and gunning in AAU is fine, but if you don't post up, drop step etc yhou are wasting your time. It is like driving A car that needs a tune up.
Be realistic about your childs' ability. They are probably not D1 material. Before Tyler Roche, who was the last D1 hoopster who got a full ride AND stayed at that school for four years--Matt Bonner?????
D1 is a business and they own you-lock, stock and barrell.
A D2 of D3(preferably) are great ways to go to school. Get the nice mixture of athletics and academics. Enjoy college and enjoy doing what you love doing-playing basketball.

Re: Is it basketball?
It would be interesting to see a post about how many all state players actually played basketball in college.
