No folding on 2011 team
Its really a unique way to approach it b/c some kids just fold in the All-Star game format, and it's nice to see who the real 'stars' are that will carry the team.
I can't imagine the 2011 team folding against vermont a lot of the kids play on the Jayhawks and Rivals and by no means after competing against teams like the playaz, cbc, gauchos, babc ect would they be nervous in any way playing against a team from vermont would you?

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
I guess I have to stand up for VT a bit here...I mean they have beaten us three years running now. Plus, its a tough argument to make when you know nothing about the VT 2011 squad. For NH, they've won 3 out of every 5 years on average, 18-12 since the inception of the game. 60% is not exactly a staggering winning percentage.
While I agree NH 'should' beat VT because our larger population, bigger metropolitan areas and history of putting out better talent, they've got to start hitting shots and showing me on the floor. By the way the VBCA does a HECK of a better job at stats, and maintaining a cohesive website the NHBCO does. http://vbca.info/

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
They've got full or partial stats from every Twin State game between 1981 and 2008 which I found interesting.

Not a tough argument if you know the players ivolved.

Sorry but go ahead and try to look up on nerr where is says VT has all these all star players tearing the aau circuit out there? Jake Donelly is their best and he's average at best. Now are best are not only competing against the best teams in the country but even beating some of them. So like i said earlier if you take the top players we have right now and play VT we kill them next year guaranteed.

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
NERR hardly has a presence in VT (or NH in the public school systems for that matter).
I'm not saying VT will beat NH in 2011...just saying none of us really know who they'll have, just like we barely knew this year and they beat us. NERR is a great website for players who attend exposure events, but they hardly touch the public schools and I hardly ever pay attention to rankings. We probably had the better ranked individuals on the 2010 squad than VT did but they played like a team and beat us.

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
If NH had the better players, then VT had the better preperation and game plan, perhaps the better coaching staff?

VT vs NH
The jayhawks beat a team called lonewolf they are the top AAU team from VT by twenty and this was without the services of Madol and Holder. So I happen to like the NERR rankings myself they seem to know what their talking about.

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
Yea NERR does a good job of getting kids out there. I'm just not a fan of rankings in general. Especially when they are updated after every game somebody watches. A players stock should rise after successfully showing over a stretch of time that they are improved. I won't argue their rankings because I for one haven't seen anybody outside of the NH public schools unless you count the millions of YouTube vids I've watched of area Prep kids.
I think if you're talking where we stand today with our class of 2011 I would put them up against any squad VT puts out there. We've got playmakers, shooters, tweeners and a few bigs that should be able to pound with VT. The Jayhawks squad has been playing together (many of them) for years and are basically an all-star squad of the class of 2011 in itself. But coaching will play a big factor, and who VT brings to the game next summer will too. Many VT kids don't play AAU so its not a realistic comparison, but good to hear the Jayhawks took care of business against VTs best.

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
By the way I looked into the Lone Wolf squad, and you're right, if you compare their roster to NERR's rankings, they have almost the entire top 10 on their roster. So this very well may be who we look to compete against next year in the Twin State game.

Re: Rotary Twin State Basketball Classic Teams
Here is the Box Score from this years game. Pretty tough to overlook the FT comparison as VTs O'Shea had more made free throws (15-17) than NH took as a team (14). That was really the only stat line VT won...but they shot 80% making 33 free throws to NH's 9. NH once again bombed away all game 10-29 from 3 pt land....
