Re: Announcing the match-ups in our pre-season basketball jamboree
Wowsa, just read the article. AWESOMELY AWESOME.
I can't believe we have to wait nearly 3 months for this. There's rivalries, intrigue and marquee value written all of this. What a way to wind up the Jamboree with Pembroke vs Trinity. Fantastic this event will raise money for New Horizons.
Dave, you say "games." So, the format will be regular games with 4 eight minute stop time quarters?
I'm lucky to get 10 words out of GNG these days, never mind 1000. Every time I call him he's either got to go for a walk with his wife or his wife has just put supper on the table. You can give Kudos to GNG he's spending so much time with his wife....... I guess ??

We;re excited about the Jamboree, hopefully there will be a lot of students and we'll make it a yearly thing to really kick the season off between a bunch of teams that normally wouldn't play each other.

Concern
My biggest concern is whether or not Alvirne's gym will be big enough to handle the crowd! Think about it - each school is encouraged to bring its fans for a booster club incentive. Add to this the legion of hoop hungry followers with no specific school allegiance. And finally, the allure of being able to sit down and watch 3 or 5 games, like the old NHIAA quarterfinals days! The line starts.....TODAY!

Re: Announcing the match-ups in our pre-season basketball jamboree
Alvirne has bleachers on both sides, I'm sure we'll talk to Karen Bonney the AD about pulling them out if crowd size is an issue. Also, schools fans should be filtering in and out all day so hopefully that won't be an issue. If it turns out the way we hope next year we'll look for a larger venue!
Re: Announcing the match-ups in our pre-season basketball jamboree
Yea, I don't think overcrowding will be an issue. Basketball student bodies, for the most part, don't get too motivated until March rolls around.
I'm sure the Saturday afternoon/evening games will have very good crowds though.

Re: Announcing the match-ups in our pre-season basketball jamboree
In response to Hanover not being invited..yep..they absolutely deserve to be included but I wanted the two best Division III teams included and that bumped them. Oyster River & Winnacunnet were the other two teams that barely missed the cut as well.
I love the excitement around this...I'll be blind by the end of Trinity/Pembroke from all the hoop viewing and T & F yes...full 8 minute quarters like a regulation game. It's the real deal.
Ok give me the lines on the games.......

Maybe, after I eat some Lamb, Pita, Pistichio & Rice Pudding @ Glendi in Manchester this weekend I'll provide you with some lines on the games.

Yea I know Jaf. What a novel idea: actually having the players decide the outcome of the game:o

Great opportunity
Thank you for including Newport in such a great preseason event. Lots of talk in town about how we as a community will thank the nhsportspage with large attendance ... We beat Concord and was holding our own against Bishop Brady in the white park tournament this summer. Not many people though we would be competitive there either. It's all good. Losing to a team like Alverine is way better for us than beating Sunapee by 30 over and over. Hooper got us getting hammered. I'M sure he's not the only one.
Thanks again for all the hard work you all at nhsportspage put forth for the Athletes in our Great little state.

no blood no foul
Don't be sorry about that. We should get beat. I'm sorry about the wanted dead or alive posters out west here with your name on it. LOL just kidding, Thanks for the motivation to do well in this 1st annual event though.... does pa losing to trinity in fallball surprise you?? Waite till Otis gets his whole team. Trinity is gonna be tough.
For sure there will be most of the talent in the state at this venue. Hopkinton is a final four team in D3 and Hanover is also a very good team. Dave and the boys at nhsportspage have the right teams for this event.

Re: Announcing the match-ups in our pre-season basketball jamboree
I love that we're predicting pre-season games on the forum. Boy, is it basketball season yet? Coaches are surely reading this and rolling their eyes, but its all for fun...
No predictions from me - considering coaches will be playing various player combinations, and trying out newly implemented play sets on both sides of the ball, the score won't matter much for these games. Now I do know a lot of the kids are getting amped up for this so I'm sure the players want to win (as they should) but for the coaches this is a great opportunity to play a bunch of kids work on situational play calling and the scoreboard will be secondary for them.

win win
The boy's at the pages did a great job at putting this together. All the games will be much closer than what Hooper thinks...no team loses by more than 10pts.
Most of all the fans of NH basketball get a good look at teams they don't get to see much of throughout the season.

Scott Houde it's great to see you on the forum...we're going to be doing a ton of promotion for the event; on radio, some TV hopefully, our website of course and in the schools participating as well.
The kids I've heard from are really fired up for this...Manchester Central is making up special shirts for the event and their game against Conant.

Nice article in today's UL about the Jamboree:
http://www.unionleader.com/article/20131026/SPORTS16/131029425
Trinity hosts Central on Dec. 17th? Too early for pre season #1 and #2 to meet don't you think ???
