Jordan Laguerre Watch - New Hampton
New Hampshot Basketball defeated Fork Union Military Academy by 16 points. Evan Smotrycz had 21 points and Jordan Laguerre had 19 points.
From what I understand Jordan has played his way into a starting spot this season as a Junior. Smotrycz is headed to Michigan, which can only help JL's recruiting outlook as he's feeding the rock (and scoring it appears) to plenty of D1 talent.

Re: Jordan Laguerre Watch - New Hampton
Jordan just got an offer from Virginia Commenwealth (VCU). read about it here: http://www.scotthazeltonbasketball.com/blog/index.php?itemid=436
Re: Jordan Laguerre Watch - New Hampton
Dave Keefe just mentioned that Jordan has a offer in from Rhode Island in the Atlantic 10 and said he expects to hear that Providence will offer in the next week or two.
Re: Jordan Laguerre Watch - New Hampton
I posted this in another thread I think but Jordan has committed to play at UMASS in 2011-2012. He'll finish up his Senior year likely as the starting PG at New Hampton and move on to play college ball just south of the border at UMASS the following season.
Congrats to Jordan and wish him the best of luck. Happy to see he's stayed close to home so we can all continue to watch his game grow.

Jordan is ranked by ESPN as the #57 shooting guard in the nation, but most scouts think he'll end up as a point depending on his maturation over his last year at Prep school. He gets a grad of 89 out of 100. If you have have ESPN Insider you can get more info on him here:

Interesting thread going on over at the UMASS forums regarding Jordan. Sounds like they are skeptical of NH talent...figures. Don't they even know somebody by the name of Luke Bonner was a NH Native? Funny if you read the entire thread how their forum starts to believe in him after his recent MVP at hoop mountain, but fair enough, Jordan will have to prove himself whereveer he goes. We all know how good he is, and that he is the real deal, but every gym he walks into in the A-10 will have somebody on the other side of the ball that thinks he's better than him. Should be interesting.
By the end of the thread the posters on the UMASS forum are literally praying and considering Jordan one of the biggest signing at UMASS in years!

Maybe you should remind them?
Maybe you should remind them about Bonner and the numerous NH kids that have gone d1 and semi pro overseas. And as I recall he plays for the Mass Rivals program and not a NH AAU program correct? So if they guys really follow basketball they would know who he is.

Re: Jordan Laguerre Watch - New Hampton
Yea it was comical that they obviously didn't know one of their more recent starters Luke Bonner was a NH kid. I think NHs recent track record of putting out quality D1 talent speaks for itself. We're not going to have D1 kids every year but we almost always lose what good talent the public schools could have to excellent prep Programs in our area. One of the downsides to New England being one of the hotbeds for Prep hoops in the country.
Re: Jordan Laguerre Watch - New Hampton
Jordan is a Senior this year at New Hampton Prep after reclassifying 2 years ago. He recently led the Huskies to Mercer Tournament Championship by scoring 22 points in a 55-53 win for New Hampton. He also reeled in the tournament MVP award.
