Jan. 15th Games
BG at Alvirne: Good matchup. BG needs to bounce back from Memorial loss while Alvirne just needs to bounce back to positive.
Trinity at Bedford: Interesting matchup. Trinity is undefeated while Bedford tries to work on the Mo from the big winny victory.
Winny at Spaulding: Huge Seacoast matchup. Winny's smaller team against the larger Red Raider team.
Pembroke at Souhegan: Possible preview of the D2 state title game?
West at Central: This would've been a marquee game in the last 3 or so years. Now a little luster is off from this intra city game.

Re: Jan. 15th Games
Ugly incident just happened in Central - West game. A Central player was in for break away and was pushed from behind by a West player. Intentional foul called on West player. West player was then ejected for throwing a punch. West player will miss the next 2 games at least.

I hate to act as a Forum middleman, but that "Somebody" has told me to tell GNG that Lunn had 8 rebounds and not 17.
I would say I don't like to get in the firing line, but in this case I'm enjoying this firing line.

That "somebody" also told me to tell GNG to check the scoring leaders as it might make GNG's day, week or month !!!
Here's the Top 5 scorers as per NH Sportspage..... And please no ramblings, math formulas or any type of angst (Teenage, Adult or Elderly):
1 Jeff Lunn Bishop Guertin 7 19.9 139
2 Kaleb Marquis Concord 5 19.0 95
3 Jack Preston Nashua South 6 18.2 109
4 Dominic Paradis Spaulding 6 17.5 105
5 Tong Akat Manchester Memorial 4 17.3 69

Re: Jan. 15th Games
I was at BG/Alvirne game and I was very impressed by Lunn. Def one of the best players in the state that I have seen this year. BG's bench is soooo deep that I quit trying to write them all down! Their defense is pretty good but Press Break could use a little help.
I heard on the radio tonight that someone thinks that Alvirne is better than their records indicates. I have to respectfully disagree with that assessment. I have seen them 3 times and I am not impressed by them. They may shoot the lights out when they are on but not very consistent all around.
I'll be at Central@Merrimack for that good matchup!

I wasn't broadcasting tonight, so it wasn't me that said that on the radio, but I can't wait for GNG to put a Bronco noose around my neck and tighten it with my top 5 pre season pick of Alvirne.

Re: Jan. 15th Games
I kept track of the stats for my own personal reasons. Lunn had 30 and 17. BG stat keepers I heard had him at 19 rebounds. Not to be confrontational but whoever said he had 8 is off there rocker, and missed half the game, because Lunn had 8 rebounds in the 1st half alone.

Oh boy, here I go. I'm caught in the middle again. I'll let that "Somebody" know about Lunn's increased rebound totals. Being a go between on the Forum is not as easy as you might think it is.

Re: Jan. 15th Games
I dont dont the difficulty of being a go-between. I just want the correct total for these kids to be posted. But The Telegraph will give us the correct amount tomorrow, maybe.

Don't worry Observer, I'm kind of having fun being a go between ..... between GNG and "Somebody."

T@F - 8 boards. I hope your SOURCE apologizes to you .
Not only do I believe he is the best BIG MAN in the division. I believe he is the best player in the division.

So that's like being between a marshmallow and a pillow? Doesn't seem like a difficult place to be unless you consider one needs volume control. At least you can grab the pillow to cover your ears if the marshmallow gets too loud
Do we know how many rebounds Livingston had? There are usually less rebounds to be had so far from the basket where he likes to "post up". Although in the 2nd half there were a ton of long rebounds to be had as many Alvirne shots bounded far off the rim to the edges of the court. Alvirne will not go far only having 2 players score the bulk of their points. A couple of their defenders were very handsy and got called on it. You'd figure after getting 2 quick ones you'd stop playing defence with your hands - oh well.
Suffice to say Lunn played very well against a big man last night. Most of his points were inside while his counterpart shot (and made) a lot of 3-balls until BG switched to a longer armed player against him. He got a quick few points inside when Lunn was taking a quick break. As another thread went on ad nauseum stats are only as good as the person taking them. The "official scorer" in HS usually doesn't keep track of rebounds - that's left to some student or parent so please let's not focus too much on the actual number. In the long run a difference of 1 rebound is what 1/18th (0.06) of your average?

BG Alvirne Game
I waws also at the Alvirne-BG game and was impressed.
Alvirne has talent, but they do not play as a team. They needed to reverse the ball but would rather take the shot. The thing about
alvirne is they start slow and usually are peaking by the time the tourney starts, They have a nice team . I hope it is true this year.
As far as BG. I cannotremember seeing a player make the advancement in his game like Lunn has for a long time. He reminds me of Ollie Hunter the way he is putting that team on his back. He can pujt the ball on the floor and his mid range has also improved immensely.
Credit should also be given to Toscano who runs the team. He handles the pressure but his ability to go with both hands, and dish to the others needs to be mentioned.
One mi nor detail needs to be addressed. When they are up by 10 with three minutess to go, they need a half court set up offense. This has been their downfall in the past. They should downscreen for either 24 or 31 and have Lunn weakside. Last night they got away with a few quick shots at the end.
I think you have to put BGinthe top 3 and Lunns passion on the court puts him as my number one player in the state.
I still have to see other players, but LUnn is setting the bar pretty high.

Re: Jan. 15th Games
Tully we got his name fixed on the website. Just a typo I'm sure. I won't name names.
As for rebounding stats - those are 1000% harder to obtain than points scored in a game. If its kept at all, its by a student manager and used internally on the team and not reported to any new sources.
We have a little better luck with the Preps, but not much.

Nashua South is the most impressive team in Division 1. If they don't win the whole thing it will be a shock.
