Re: Leading Scorers D1 & D2 Boys
Boy I guess I touched a nerve here without ever intending. I only commented that I thought minutes played would be pertinent when showing a list of top 20 scorers. I then found out by accident that the list was not truly the top 20 NH scorers. What's the point of the list again?? I'm not sure. I now have to respond to Crazy Carl just to set the record straight since he insulted many Memorial parents. I having nothing to do with Memorial. I just found out by accident that they were not being included in the compilation. I therefore sent out an FYI of where to find their stats for two games not listed. The stats are still not on the website for these guys. And by my brief look at it, I think two of them would be in the top 20 list, although I could be wrong. Also, I was responding to a list posted on this Forum, not a website. It was only after so many comments came from contributors from the website that I decided to look at their statistics.

More like inconsiderate minds think alike. Think before you post GNG/Crazy Carl.
Speculating about a forum contributor and ganging up on them is certainly not allowed.
Also...this forum is that website, that website is this forum...just have different URLs. For now.

It's fine to disagree and your comments are welcome obviously. I think 'inaccurate' was the word that I thought was probably not the best choice but I wanted to explain how many schools report and the process of getting those numbers. I'll be sure to add the Memorial stats you sent because as I always have said, we want every kid in N.H represented.

Re: Leading Scorers D1 & D2 Boys
The following are quotes from the UL on Saturday.
"Playing their starting five almost the entire game, the Crusaders let a double-digit lead slip away in the final moments of regulation."
"Quirk thought enough of BG's advantage inside to call on a rarely used zone defense and the strategy paid off handsomely as the Crusaders held the Cardinals to 26 points in the first half. He said the slow pace led him to keep his starters in for the entire 37 minutes, save for a two-minute breather for Akot in the second quarter."
This is the type of reporting that gives insight into how these top 20 lists may be skewed and why I still believe minutes played would be appropriate. I know it can't be done but I'm not sure why the list bothers rating the players by ppg. If you just want to create a fun list of top scorers just use points scored.

For some one who has stated they don't have a Crusader horse in the race, you sure do have an extreme vested passionate interest in Crusader players with regards to the Top 20 scorers in D1.
I applaud you for your non-vested passion.

T&F- Your logic fails me. I want them in the top 20 list but then want to dismiss the list? You can speculate all you want. I speak out to bring daylight to these type of lists and make people think about them.

I talked to four coaches this weekend who were laughing about this discussion after having read it on the Forum......they actually brought it up to me.

Re: Leading Scorers D1 & D2 Boys
Yea - Agreed T&F - its run its course. Lets move on.
newtothismom - I think we all agree that minutes played would be an interesting point of comparison, but as you said, its not possible to gain that information so the scoring leaders are what they are - a list of the top scorers in the NHIAA as it is compared to games played.
I certainly respect newtothismom for sticking to her guns and standing up for what she believed on this thread. Its not easy going up against a bunch of "vets" on the Forum who are equally as passionate (not to mention a couple of the guys that run NHSportsPage).
That said, Points Per Game is one of the most basic statistics, and most used statistics, in the entire game of basketball, so I don't think we're going to change the scoring leaders list in any way.
