Re: Oyster River / Portsmouth Monday Night Game
Walczak dropped 30 in front of her future Head Coach at U Maine. Impressive. Wonder if she'll play Center at 6' 1"?
Re: Oyster River / Portsmouth Monday Night Game
This game was interesting, as Portsmouth came out playing Man to Man, and Walczak ate that up, dropping 15 in the 1st quarter. PHS switched to zone and did a good job rotating to the ball, often triple teaming Walczak at times. She still managed to drop 15 more the rest of the way, but it was clear the zone was way more effective.
Markey Flwelling (Transfer for Winnacunnet) kept PHS in the game early with good outside shooting, and Susie French (one of the more under-rated D2 players, IMO) was everywhere on defense. OHRS had leads of 10 twice, but PHS chipped away each time, closing the gap to 2 in the fourth, but the Clippers just couldn't get over the hump.
The OHRS guards will have to step up their jump shooting, because I think teams will be forced to run this kind of defense to try and contain Walzack, who is as good as advertised on the offensive end.
It'll be interesting to see the rematch, Portsmouth should be at full strength when Ali Beauregard comes back from her foot injury.

I am told she will be a Power Forward (4 position) at UMO ...besides working down low she has a very good 15ft shot..and can run the floor and drive the lane. You would see this type of play at the AAU level ..HS they keep her down low most of the time.
