Later in the season, time to get excited
Here's the new thread to keep up with the facebook, smart phone, ipad, droid, texting, tweeting world we live in.
Yes, the Winny at BG game should be a good one. The games played today at 4:00 pm might be the first games of the season where 1st pitch temp might be over 70 degrees.
Lot of excitement in Nashua as South and North play.
Pinky hosts Londonderry in another rivalry game.
Central travels to Salem in another good matchup.
Should be some good baseball today to correspond with the good weather !!!

Bedford @ Goffstown today should be a good one in DII - Bedford slammed them at home a few weeks ago, but anything can happen at that tiny field they play on over there.

Re: Later in the season, time to get excited
I contacted a BG fan at Holman to get an update on the Winny at BG game. He didn't give me a score, but he said a certain part of BG's anatomy on their back side was being kicked in by the Winny Warriors.......

Good thing I was up on the windy hill today doing my umpiring duties The Alvirne JV's put a licking on the Trinity JV's... Of course coming home to a grumpy child hasn't been enjoyable

Great game. North ahead 1-3. In comes Kyle Turner to pitch the 6th, and North implodes defensively - South got some good hits, Kyle throws away a pick-off attempt, infielders played hot potato with the ball - and in the end South had scored 4 runs to go ahead 5-3. Defensively DSouth played great. At one time North had bases loaded with one out, and South turned a great douple play to save the inning. Maloney went the distance for South. Not a hard thrower, but really had a lot of movement on everything he threw.

Re: Later in the season, time to get excited
Hey GNG, nice to meet you yesterday!
South played well, Maloney had good command of the strike zone. It looked as if North had him on the ropes in the middle innings but a timely double-play squashed a rally. A North base running error also helped out South since it ended the inning with what otherwise would have been a 1st & 3rd situation with Joe Breen coming up. Breen hit a monster home run over the center field wall the next inning.
South plated 4 runs in the top of the 6th, 3 unearned to took a 5-3 lead. Maloney got the next 6 outs in order and sealed South's win.
I think South is 4-6 after yesterday, but they are a much better team than that. Their 1st 5 batters were extremely hard to get out.
North's errors and subpar performance at the plate (only 4 hits) cost them. Oh well, time to move on and focus on Londonderry, North's next opponent.

Re: Later in the season, time to get excited
People this winter were saying the division 1 hoop tourny was wide open. I didn't think so, I thought there were 4 teams that could bring it home, and three of them made it to Durham. I bring this up because I truly believe this years baseball tournament is going to be chock full of upsets. Granted North has a horse in Turner, and Salem has Poore {back permitting}, but those 2 can only pitch so many innings come tourny time.
Look at the teams hovering near the bottom of the standings. Memorial with Sullivan is a first round nightmare matchup. Trinity has Beaudet or the freshman lefty Giampetrucci to throw at you , OUCH. This is my take on the teams BG has played, or games I have watched.
NORTH-- best team I have seen. I was surprised to hear they were throwing the ball around the other night. They are sound defensively. They are not scoring as many runs as you would have thought, but they are usually seeing the other teams best. They are probably going to get a few more losses with the ridiculous schedule they have to play in the next 2 weeks. I would be surprised if they don't finish the regular season as the number 1.
WINNIE- best team BG has played. They were huge and could rake. They were disciplined at the plate, and turned 2 very nice double plays. I don't know if BG saw their ace, but he could throw, big kid. They spanked BG at Holman.
SALEM- I thought they would give North a run for the regular season number 1. They have pulled out some close games {BG} and lost some close games. Poores back is an issue, if he is healthy they have as good a shot as anyone. Their catcher is the best I have seen so far this season.
MERRIMACK- veteran ballclub with good senior leadership from Dupont, and Distacio. They have won some close ones{BG} and lost some close ones. Not much power, they play small ball, and do it quite well. Damon has been great this year, Hudon's control seems to be an issue. Parker is solid at 3rd an at bat. They won't be an easy out come the dance.
KEENE- don't get me started. I don't know of anyone from Guertin who wouldn't love another crack at this team. I don't see them getting out of the 1st round.
WEST- I don't see them making the tourny. They should not be division 1 in baseball, and they shouldn't be division 2 in football.
TIMBY- I would be surprised if they get out of 1st round.
ALVIRNE- If they make it, one and done.
TRINITY- I didn't see much hitting from them, but they have enough pitching to go a couple of rounds.
MEMORIAL- This young coach is going to be a good one.A team comes in the top 3, and your reward is facing SULLIVAN in the 1st round. No thank you.
BG- Pitching is their strong point. Defense needs to get back to basics. To many errors in the infield on easy balls. To many of the same kids making the same mistakes on the basepaths. Bats are starting to come around. This coach holds kids accountable. Can't wait to see how it shakes out and who they play in the first round.

Awful quiet on the BG band wagon......
What happened on Friday against Winny? Clearly BG's worst outing of season, they have been pretty good so far. Were they clearly out matched? just a bad day? beaten? or no - showed? Players getting injured? Are they in good shape heading into the stretch?

All of the above. First game all year where they all laid an egg. Not for nothing getting home after midnight from Keene the night before probably didn't help any. Three more games this week and we will know alot more about the green and gold's chances come playoff time.

She slept late. I grilled some unbelievable steaks, she watched the oxygen channel all day. She is now napping. Her version of a perfect day with her 3 boys, 4 if your counting me.
