BG at South 1/5
2 things are happening at South tonight.
1) South is giving BG a game so far.
2) They are not scoring like the 1970s.
End of 1st - BG 14 South 12
Halftime - BG 22 South 20

Wow, weird things are happening at Panther Land:
3 minutes to go in the game and South is beating BG by 7.

PHS Boys over Coe-Brown Boys 60-43... (per NHIAA website)
PHS Girls over Coe Brown Girls 45-44 (Heard on 1380 The Sports Animal ;-) ), on a last second put-back by Susie French (20 Points).
This was a sloppy game early on, as PHS was tired as heck after the ORHS loss Monday night- Coe Brown lead 12-5 after 1, it was tied at 18 at the half. Business picked up in the 2nd half with the lead going back and forth, Coe Brown held a 1 point lead with 9 seconds left. Susie French drove the baseline on an inbounds play, had her first shot deflected, and put back the rebound with 3 seconds left.
A Coe Brown half court shot was just wide of the mark. Great ball game, and special props to 6' 1" Soph. Alicia Brown who had a number of blocked shots, and played D with a lot of confidence.

Re: BG at South 1/5
South got a 6 to 10 point lead early in the 3rd period and maintained it for the rest of the game. South controlled the tempo and the score for the whole 2nd half. The closest BG got to South was a 5 point deficit near the end of the 4th. South hit the majority of their FTs near the end of the game to ice the Cardinals.

Just when I was getting over the shock of Concord's upset over Pinkerton then this South upset happens.
Maybe BG and Pinkerton can have a scrimmage/practice to blow off some upset steam.

GNG, was it more of a case of BG not executing or South doing a better job of executing?

Re: BG at South 1/5
So, the big question at the end of this particular basketball day is:
Will this season be like last season when just about anybody in the top 13 to 15 teams could beat anybody on any given night?
I was really thinking this season would be different than last season with a bigger chasm between the top 6 to 7 teams and then the next tier of teams, but then in the span of 24 hours you have Concord and South pull 2 huge D1 upsets.

Re: BG at South 1/5
good question, i feel like it will be like last year where on any given night someone can go out and pull an upset. BUt it is still early in the season so we will find out i guess. what about londonderry? i thought they were suppose to be a decent team there was a lot of buzz about them but they are 0-3?

Re: BG at South 1/5
No, I never really thought Londonderry would make some noise. They lost a lot from last year. I didn't even see them finishing in the top 10 this year. I know they have Colby, but the supporting cast didn't wow me.
Now, if you talk to GNG he is riding the Spaulding Red Raider Express hard. He picked them to be a darkhorse from the get go. If Spaulding wins the the D1 title I will personally go to every championship party down in Rochester which will culminate in the biggest one at the Riviera Motel.

Come to think of it, maybe if Spaulding wins the title this year, the Sports Animal might be like the master of ceremonies at all the Rochester parties. He is proud of his Rochester heritage, I think ??

in my humble opinion
the ball was not moving without green there, everyone was trying to overcompensate and go 1 on 5 instead of running the offense.one pass and shoot is not bg basketball,I am sure migs will tell them that at practice.I have taken 2 showers already and the stench of the game is still on me.T@F don't sell londonderry yet, they are gonna surprise you.

I'll MC any party, as long it's not on Lafayette Street. That area makes the rest of Rochester look like Rye.

Gee Sus, I've never been to that section of Rochester before Sports Animal. I don't know if I'm excited or scared to see it?

Re: BG at South 1/5
GNG, aren't you worried about drying out your skin so early in the season?
The key question is, how many double showers will you take for stench related BG issues the rest of the season?

Re: BG at South 1/5
I have a huge social quandry this Friday. My basketball schedule recently.... uhh, freed up. Now, I have the choice of the following games to attend:
Winny at Trinity: Characters abounding at a Pioneer home game. I would meet and greet, talk and walk and then bereave and leave. I don't know if I'd see much hoop there at the McHugh Gymnasium.
Central at West: This is a good matchup and I might be able to concentrate on watching basketball better at this dimly lit gym. I might think of wearing night vision goggles so I could actually see the game.
Alvrine at BG: Anytime GNG is in a gym the gas, admission and time spent going to the game is minimal compared to the one man party that is GNG.
Milford at Pelham: After my recent postings of the Rte 101 and Rte 13 area I don't think I would be embraced by some of the Milford faithful. Maybe the Spiro Family could sneak me into the Pelham crowd and I wouldn't be noticed by anybody from Milford, even the ubiquitous ChiKid himself.
