Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
Some good matchups across the board tonight. Discuss game action here.
Some of the more intriguing matchups on the boys side:
Alvirne @ Manchester Central - Both teams are looking for their first win. Alvirne played 16 minutes of basketball Friday night going 1-21 from the floor in the third, they'll need to play 24 to be the Wickey show. Central comes off a tough road loss to BG in a game they almost stole. I like Central at home for this one.
Trinity @ Nashua North - Trinity almost gave one away to a very good Dover team. They have to travel down the turnpike now to match up with a North team that's gets great guardplay out of Williams and Gauthier. Both teams looking to go into the break 2-0.
Manchester West @ Merrimack - Two more teams looking to make it 2-0. These two squads could be matched up in a Semifinal in March. It's a tossup here, but I have a feeling West pulls this one out. I've underestimated Floras and Co. before, and it hurt me, but West and their new coach are out to prove that they don't need Bedford players to be successful in DI.
A lot of other good games tonight - we're going to see a lot of parity in Division I this year I think. Good luck and I'll post whatever updates I can tonight.

Tweet away Assistant...
I'm going to be at the CHS Alvirne match up, so I'll update accordingly.
PS I take Merrimack over West tonight... I think they're pretty even but being at Merrimack.. I'll give it to Floras and co.

Re: Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
Breaking News: It's halftime at the Milford/Hollis-Brookline JV game and the stands are almost full. Still beyond me why Milford built that gym with only 20 rows of bleachers - on HALF the gym.
I'm not there - but the NH High School Sports blog/website is.
Updates forthcoming throughout the night. To make sure you're getting all the scores, just navigate over to the forum twitter feed. I probably won't update the thread all night, too much work in two different places.

Will Milford still fill those stands once the Big 3 and Co graduate after this season? They are raising the banner tonight in Milford. If I could pick one game to go to it would be the West at Merrimack game. It is a very good matchup. It will be interesting to see how Floras does against all the ferocious defense West can throw at him.

Wow, The Assistant's keyboard will need new batteries after today's postings. I hope Santa takes care of him in that department on the morning of 12/25.

Re: Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
Trinity and North are tied after the first period 10 - 10. It looks like Trinity is going to make North earn it from the outside as they opened up with a zone defense. I'm sure part of it is to keep Aluko out of foul trouble like he was in against Dover last Friday.

Re: Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
Memorial leads Keene 44 to 35 at the end of the 3rd.
Trinity 39 North 30 at the end of the 3rd.
With the big loss for West at Merrimack the Blue Knights are continuing their pattern of being a better home team than a road team.

Girl's final: Londonderry 58 BG 55
This must have been a heck of a game between 2 teams picked to be in the top 5 for girl's D1.

Looks like the Mig-coached Cardinals are a second half team so far this season.

Re: Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
I was gonna say...if there's one thing we've learned after 2 games, it's that BG starts slow, but finishes strong. This 2nd half come from behind experience is going to bode well for them as the season progresses.
Re: Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
Central fought hard in the first half and was down more times than not.
They started to pull away at the end of the 1st half and then took control Quarter 3 (not uncommon to Central teams).
Alvirne, however, has a lot of promise and the new coach impressed me.

Re: Tuesday 12/21 Game Thread
Londonderry had a good student section at the game.Once again taking a teams best shot.BG came out with the zone again in the 1st half, played 10 kids subbing in 1 or 2 at a time.Londonderry shot lights out in the 1st half, they had a big dude in the middle, looked like a football player. He had a soft touch around the rim and had alot of rebounds.Connor Green didn't come in till 4 minutes left in the 1st period,he has been battling the flu all week, and still led the team in rebounds.Migs had them go man to man in the 2nd half, and flat out wore them down.Mcclung led with 25, not sure on Green {although he had a ton of assists},he might have gotton a triple double.Remi had 14,Cuips 7{2nd leading rebounder}.Migs played 8 in the 2nd half and they got after it.Remi got Colby to push him and drew a technical late in the 3rd which swung some momentum guertins way.I was impressed with Londonderry's coach, whenever it looked like BG was going to go on a run he would take a timeout. They also have a quick point guard who can dribble thru anything. They are better then last years squad, but the bench might be a little suspect.Don't sleep on this team or they will bite you.KELLY UPDATE,ran pain free today,I say 3 weeks, you can see the kid is chomping on the bit to get out there.Kesty continues to impress me off the bench,he had 7 or 9 tonight.
