Jan. 3rd Games
The Forum is going through a transition process, so if you're able to redirect.... for now..... and know of reschedulings for tonight's games, please feel free to post.
There are differing policies within different school districts. A lot of school districts will explicitly state: NO AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES on the day school is cancelled. Other school districts dance to their own tune and on a day like today will go right until 12 to 3 pm to make a decision whether or not to play a game between 6 and 7 pm. Very tough for me to write about each game when there is a 99% possibility these games won't be played.
I do know there were a decent amount of good games tonight:
Trinity at Exeter: The marquee game of the night.
Portsmouth at Pembroke
Memorial at Salem
South at Winny: Worth the price of admission to see one of the 2 best backcourts in the state go head to head. Ruffin v Tavarez.
Girl's games:
Alvirne at Pinkerton: 2 teams who will be fighting for a Top 4 seed in D1 girls.

Re: Jan. 3rd Games
The Trinity at Exeter boy's game is rescheduled for Saturday Jan. 4th at 7:00 pm.
Here's rescheduling updates from today's UL:
Trinity athletic director Chip Polak said his school has postponed Friday’s scheduled girls’ and boys’ basketball games against Exeter. Those games have been reset for Saturday. The Trinity girls will host Exeter at 1 p.m. for the JV game followed by the 2:30 p.m. varsity game. Polak said the boys’ varsity game at Exeter will begin at 7 p.m.
In Amherst, all Souhegan athletic events scheduled for today are postponed because of the snowstorm. The only games that have been rescheduled are the basketball games with Lebanon. They will be made up on Jan. 13 when the Souhegan boys host the Raiders and the girls travel to Lebanon. The varsity games at both sites begin at 6:30 p.m.

Re: Jan. 3rd Games
Thanks for posting 3Buoys. That is definitely different than what was reported in the UL this morning. You just saved some people some disappointment from going to the Blue Hawk gym at the wrong time.

Nice to see Manchester public works got Tulliver un-earthed from an 8 foot snow bank. Manchester tax dollars put to good use.
I'm sure the ride home from Dover was like the Good Ship Lollipop for Migs and the rest of the Cardinals.

Re: Jan. 3rd Games
Have to throw some Forum love towards girl's basketball courtesy of today's UL:
THERE'S NO shortage of talent in Manchester girls' basketball.
"Every team in the city has at least one very good player who impacts a game," said Manchester Central coach Mike Wenners.
In the Queen City holiday tournament hosted by the Little Green, Central's Natasha Velez — a 5-foot, 10-inch junior forward — proved to be a tough defender.
"She doesn't shy away from contact, not afraid to mix it up," said Wenners. "She's a relentless rebounder, and she's nice to have in the paint on both ends of the court."
Wenners also lauded Manchester West's Alex Ricard, a 6-foot junior center.
"A talented player who makes her presence felt inside," Wenners said. "She had 10 blocks in one of the tournament games. She can definitely play."
Two other city players to watch this season are sophomore guard Amanda Torres of Trinity and Makenah Grisson of Memorial.
"Amanda had a fantastic holiday tournament," said Wenners. "She's quick, not afraid to take the ball to the rim and plays great defense."
Grisson, a junior forward, has been described by some coaches as a miniature version of former Memorial standout Amra Elezovic, now a sophomore guard at Southern New Hampshire University.
"She's not as quick or tall as Amra, but she has the same qualities," Memorial boys' basketball coach Jack Quirk, who previously coached the Crusader girls, said of Grisson. "She had 20 points in a tournament game against Pinkerton as a freshman. She's very quick, and she's isn't afraid to take that last shot with the game on the line."

Re: Jan. 3rd Games
Final Trinity 70 Exeter 58
Looks like Wenyin Gabriel's foot is feeling better as he had 24 points to lead Trinity. Carmen G chipped in with 19.
Medley had 15, Vigars had 14 and Holler finished with 11 for the Blue Hawks.

Jan 3rd games/ Update Trinity @ Exeter
birds eye view.................Exeter not ready for the next level, yeh, they hung around for 3 quarters and even had leads but Trinity just took them to school in the 4th, Good ole', take'em out to the wood shed and teach'em a lesson.......and they did.....G and Gabriel had there way all night. Exeter had no answers for Both. Gabriel just schooled Medely on both ends of the floor with multiple 2nd and 3rd opportunity put backs and rebound's. G just had his way from the baseline to 10 feet out all night with pure muscle/ effort and determination. Vigars and Dickerson were no match. Exeter did a good job taking away rhoades, otis, keefe, testa, ect. but they could'nt handle the big 2. Medely needs to play bigger and be more of a beast than a lamb, non factor/invisible. Vigars/dickenson need to play both ends of the floor and defend. Good hard ball game but in my mind ending was never in doubt. It seemed Trinity was running down hill all night and Exeter up Mount Everest!!!!!........If Exeter wants to be considered one of the big dogs in D1 this season................................................................THERE GOING DO NEED TO GET OFF THE PORCH.

Re: Jan. 3rd Games
"Get off the porch" ???
And don't forget what Coach Shooter said to the Hickory players during a key time out:
"Merle should be open on the other side of that fence! Now, boys, don't get caught watchin' the paint dry!"
So, 3B to give a Hoosiers spin on the Blue Hawks:
They should get off the porch and run around and play with more grit, but not watch the paint dry.

Re: Jan. 3rd Games
3B: I hope you're not saying the rest of the teams in D1 will have to use Preacher Purl's words in the pre-game in the locker room to slay the 2 big horses (Trinity & Central)...
....Preacher Purl: "And David put his hand in the bag and took out a stone and slung it. And it struck the Philistine on the head and he fell to the ground. Amen."
