Re: Division 1 Boys Games on 2/1
When Nick McGregor was interviewed after his Dover Buzzer Beater by the Lovable Justin, he stated the Spaulding - dover rivalry was the best in D1 basketball.
Some would say the Central - Memorial game tonight might have that "Best in D1 Rivalry" feel to it. Others might say the Merrimack at BG game will have the same feel. It's nice to FINALLY see some games that mean something starting to be played. It's a cherry on top of the basketball sundae when a meaningful game is also a rivalry game.

North & South are also doing the B&G dblhdr preceded by a Boys JV at 4P
According to the Telegraph the other day the boys game was supposed to be at North, but they're having some problems with the bleachers, so it was moved to South.

Re: Division 1 Boys Games on 2/1
On the memorial/central game. Boys JV game is at 4:30 at Central. The triple header games start at 3:45 over at memorial with the girls JV game at 3:45, followed by the girls varsity game at 5:30, followed by the boys varsity game at 7. If you want a good seat at memorial you better be there early. The bronstein gym is going to be packed full. Any forum members going to this game if you want to find me I will be at the scorer's table wearing a central JV #14 uniform doing the book for central.
Re: Division 1 Boys Games on 2/1
Thought this may be of some interest, schedule difficulty: Team followed by opponent's winning percentage through games played (keeping in mind not everyone has played the same number of games):
1. Concord .656
2. Exeter .649
3. Keene .643
4. Timberlane .632
5. Bedford .574
6. Salem .555
7. Winnacunnet .523
8. Trinity .517
9. Dover .510
10. Londonderry .505
11. West .488
12. Pinkerton .477
13. BG .468
14. Memorial .459
15. Merrimack .422
16. South .413
17. North .370
18. Spaulding .364
19. Central .319
20. Alvirne .300
Obviously, head-to-head is the best measure of two teams. But, this makes me think Trinity's unbeaten start is better than Central's. Likewise with regard to Dover's 6-4 record against Alvirne's 6-4 record. Timberlane and Concord have been down for some time, but their schedules certainly haven't helped them get any confidence either. The next few weeks should really start to seperate the teams at the top and bring a true favorite out. It will also be the time that the bottom of the bracket starts to define itself. Exeter could be the best 3-7 team ever.

Re: Division 1 Boys Games on 2/1
I believe North beating South is not only the upset of the night, but of the year so far.
Mack beat BG by 9. Not a good week for the Cardinals.
Central 47 Memorial 44 - Seems like this game was similar to last year's Quarterfinal rock fight.

Central 47-44 over Memorial
This is for you T&F...Central/Memorial game was certainly a rock fight as you said. Tough, physical battle with neither team shooting well. Both teams were shorthanded as Plentzas didn't play because of a concussion(according to forum member MJM)...Memorial PG Kante didn't play because he's currently sitting out for academic reasons(according to coach Quirk). Nick Makris had a big game with 14, Pellitier 15 and Dawson Dickson hit 2 big FT's with :24.7 seconds left to create the final margin of victory. Memorial had 2 chances to tie after the FTs, but Kabongo(12 pts) missed multiple inside attempts before Pellitier got the rebound and missed the front end of the 1 and 1 with 8.1 seconds left. Tshief Ngalakulondi then missed a loooooong 3 at the buzzer. Tong Akot had 14...Zoubel had 8 before fouling out late. Memorial closed the 1st Q on an 8-0 run to go up 19-11 after the 1st. Central got it down to 28-27 at the half and led 42-37 after Pellitier hit a couple of 3s in the 3rd. Awesome crowd...standing room only! Look for the video highlights of the game tomorrow on NHSportspage.com and listen to me and Dave Haley talk about it on "The NH High School Hoop Show" on WGIR AM 610/96.7 FM The Wave(7 to 9am).

Re: Division 1 Boys Games on 2/1
Thanks Pete. I've always thought of you as a "Go To Guy" who comes through in the clutch. The Kante situation bears watching for Memorial fans. Not a good thing for them and their thin depth.
Plentzas continues to have a tough time with sustained good health. Too bad. Makris coming up big is very important to the Little Green. He was very quiet the last few weeks.
Nice to hear the Crusader gym was packed tonight along with the C-Dome at BG. Maybe, this HS basketball season is finally kicking into gear

Pretty sad when North upsets South and neither NHIAA or WMUR get it right. Unbelievable....

FYI...the scores on the NHIAA website are posted by either a coach from the teams playing or the AD's...not anyone associated with the NHIAA...and WMUR then gets the scores from the NHIAA website to report on the evening news...the coach reporting needs to be more aware of properly entering the score.

Well Preston one game suspension hurt them but might help him in player of the year candidate. (proves his value) He creates match up problems in NH high school basketball and with out him South becomes a little easier to guard.

FYI - the AD's enter these scores. Not sure what school you coach at to make that claim, but the AD at every school I am aware of enters this information.

Some coaches in NH (D1 for sure) post scores on the NHIAA website. These scores are verified by the AD's and the NHIAA at the conclusion of the regular season.

Re: Division 1 Boys Games on 2/1
To Thereport...I coached in Class M/ D3 for 8 years and I entered our home game final scores every time...unless some over-zealous opposing coach beat us that night and couldn't wait to post it on the bus ride to McDonald's...but if you read my original post, I said either the coach OR the AD ...the NHIAA is not responsible was my point...but they do have the AD and coach both verify the final standings the week before the tourney starts...

North South
Great game. North hot about 150% the firt half and South turned it over by mental and physical mistakes. The fact that South made a run at the end shows their character. South didn;t post Dunham enough with his size advantage.
NOrth played great deny defense and Carter hit some key free throws at the end. Give credit to coach Lane, great job coaching, and keep an eye on the guard from NOrth Lakas or something like that. Nice player.

Jordan Lates is the guards name he had 30 points in a game early this year, he is a junior and as really improved, moved to Nashua from Hollis after Freshman year.
Coach Lane is right up there with top NH coaches and as the best playing pedigree of any on playing for Penders and Van Gundy.
