Samuel "Sam" Babson Fuld (born November 20, 1981, in Durham, New Hampshire) is an American left-handed Major League Baseball outfielder for the Chicago Cubs.

Despite being afflicted with diabetes since the age of 10, Fuld began his baseball career by twice batting .600 in high school, during which time Baseball America ranked him 19th in the country. He then played college baseball at Stanford, where he was a perennial All American, set the school record for career runs scored, and set the College World Series record for career hits. Drafted by the Cubs in 2004, he made his major league debut in 2007, and became a fan favorite for his acrobatic defense.

Sam Fuld - Tampa Bay Rays Empty Fuld Has Career Night Vs. Red Sox At Fenway

Post  JT_nh_hs_fan Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:39 pm

Just a couple of days after having made ESPN's top plays with a "Superman" style catch in right field, Sam Fuld (Durham,NH) is having a career night in his first ever appearance at Fenway Park. He has gone 4 for 6 with 2 doubles, a triple and a 2-run Homerun. It is his first 4-hit game in the majors. He drove in 3 runs and scored 3. The game has just gone final as Tampa destroys the Sox 16-5.

Every kid here in New England who ever picked up a bat has had this dream. Sam is truly lliving that dream!

Congratulations to Sam!
