D1 Boys Bracket Contest - 2016
Here's the D1 Boys' Playoff Bracket Contest.
Ok, here we go with the most popular thing on the Forum. This is the 4th annual bracket contest. The previous 3 winners were:
2013 - NHkickzgod....... Has since moved to Siberia or parts unkown.
2014 - Tuesday and Friday.... Has not moved anywhere and is still loved by all Forum members ...... I think
2015 - Tulliver..... Has either won a lottery and is having umbrella drinks every day in 80 degree weather or wandering aimlessly in a distant galaxy where the USS Enterprise has never even been.
The deadline to get your brackets in is Wednesday March 9th by 5:00 pm. The time shown on the Forum I believe is set to the Galaxy that Tulliver is living in now. So, with the new Galaxy time stamp (2 hours ahead) on the Forum, you must get your bracket in by 19:00.....This is 5:00 pm. PLEASE read the rules below to avoid confusion, especially the part about total points in the Championship game for a tie-breaker. The time window will be short. Please wait for the OFFICIAL bracket to come out on the NHIAA web site. You know NHSP and NHN are going to try to get "their" brackets out ASAP, but they ARE NOT official brackets. Only NHIAA knows all the tie-breakers. I'm presuming the D1 OFFICIAL boys bracket will be posted on NHIAA by sometime on Monday or Tuesday morning at the latest. So, like I said the window of opportunity to get your OFFICIAL bracket in will be slim.
Good luck with your bracket. I can only think of 2 words with respect to this season's D1 Boys playoffs: WILD & WOOLY
Here are the rules and point system:
Prelim winner = 2 points.
Quarterfinal winner = 4 points
Semi-final winner = 8 points
Champion winner = 16 points
Tie-Breaker: PLEASE list the total amount of points scored in the Championship game. Quite a few of you forgot to do this last year and had to be contacted to do it.
Underdog winner points: For example if you pick #10 to beat #7 then you get 2 points for the prelim winner and 3 points for the seed differential. This holds true in the quarters, semis and Ship. This should make for some interesting picks because personally, I don't think there's a heck of a lot of difference between the top and bottom of the 16 teams.

Perhaps the "projected" 5-12 matchup will bring out a host of former colorful participants of the forum.

Wow, Tulliver crawls out from a rock and joins the GenPop here on the Forum
As far as your so called winnings are concerned.... It's an SAT problem so try to stick with me Tully:
I owe you lunch and brunch. You owe me breakfast, dinner and multiple drinks at Billy's. To put it into Moolah terms and SeacoastDad will back me up on this, cuz he's a numbers guy:
You basically owe me a lunch and 3 drinks. If it's in Plaistow that's about $30 with tip.
In Manchester that's about $40 with tip.

I don't know if I am allowed to enter. I kept track of my picks this year and I am 126 - 3. If you let someone of my caliber in it might lead to people not putting teams in. Let me know. By the way if I do enter I will be picking a coach to win in the first round whose name rhymes with BIGSIE.

Math looks solid to me. Here's hoping you all get to enjoy a lunch in Durham on 3/19 in support of your favorite team!

Awesome, GNG is back from his hiatus from the wonderful land of Bago Bago. You know if Justin enters a bracket here he'll have Spaulding going all the way, so it'll make sense if GNG has BG going all the way.

Re: D1 Boys Bracket Contest - 2016
NHIAA has posted the official D1 boys' bracket.
You have 48 hours to get your brackets in. The deadline is 5:00 pm on Wednesday. The time stamp is 19:00.
Winner receives all expense paid 5 day vacation to Plaistow courtesy of the social media giant that is Timberlane. I googled the Top 10 things to do in Plaistow and NOTHING came up, not even attending a Timberlane's boys' basketball game at The Owls' Nest.

Nice to have your bracket Pete. Don't get overly excited about my twitter. I'm just using it to get updates. You won't find me chirping too much on there. I don't want to get in trouble by having my mouth/keyboard say something before my brain reacts right

It's a great team, T&F
I would be very happy to see North cutting down the nets.

They will be a formidable foe for the playoffs. When other "prognosticators" had them 9-10-11 in pre season articles, I had them as a solid Top 4 team. They have very good offensive balance and Steve Lane can coach em up.

BTW - I'm trying to coax other NHSP Illuminaries like Jen Chick & Jon Kesty to submit their brackets. Where's J. McI's Red Raider bracket?
Dave won't submit one cuz he doesn't want to ruffle the feathers of his coaching buddies

Re: D1 Boys Bracket Contest - 2016
Here is the most highly anticipated bracket..... Heh, I won it 2 years ago and finished 2nd last year
2 weeks ago on a Friday, at Billy's after a cheeseburger club sandwich and 3 Coors Lights, I had a basketball epiphany: 2 double digit seeds will make it to the final four in boys' D1. I think the 3rd Coors Light might have partially clouded the basketball epiphany
Prelims:
North
South
Exeter
BG
Pinkerton
Londonderry
Central
Salem
Quarters:
North
Exeter
Pinkerton
Salem
Semis
North
Pinkerton
Champion: Pinkerton.
This time Matt Rizzo's last second shot goes down, Pinkerton wins 62 to 60 and he becomes Mayor of Derry for 1 week
