Here's my All State, COY and POY for D1 Boys:

1st Team All State:
Eric Gendron
Brett Hanson
Jon Martin
Wenyin Gabriel
Trevon Maughn
Kyle Gavin

2nd Team All State:
Luke Rosinski
Joe Martin
Carmen G
Yordy Tavarez
Drew Coveney
Zack Holler

Honorable Mention: Richie Ruffin, Sam Knollmeyer, Cam Meservey, Shayne Bourque, Ryan Brown, Darian Berry, Jordan Lates, Kabongo, Semiou Smith & Tyler Brown.

Knocking on the door: Cody Ball, Michael Felix, Joe Marandola, Karim Winn & Charlie Nevejans.

Player of the Year: Eric Gendron - What many people don't realize is what a great rebounder Gendron is. Sure, he gave Mack a consistent 20 pts on any given night, but he also was a consistently good rebounder. This impressed me just as much as the scoring. You have to have heart and a mental toughness to mix it up in the paint to clean the glass and Gendron did this EVERY time I watched him this season. He's also a very good defender. He kept Mack near the top of the standings the whole season. He single handedly kept them in the championship game with Central.

Coach of the Year: Nate Stanton - A first year coach? Well, you could use the argument let's wait until he walks the head coaching box a little more, but let's face it, at the start of the season Londonderry was not a known quantity as a team. There was a coaching transition. The Lancers were picked to finish anywhere from 5th to 12th. They finished 4th. I think most of the teams in the Top 10 finished just about where people thought they were going to finish. The only team in the Top 10 that surprised early was South. The key word is early. The Panthers dropped off in the 2nd half of the season. The Lancers dropped off a bit in the last month of the season, but secured the #4 seed and won their prelim game. There was a nice blend of youth and senior leadership for Londonderry this season. The future looks bright in Lancer-Ville with Nate Stanton running the show.

NHBCO All State Teams Announced

On Sunday at NHTI it was the annual Granite Games event, run by the NHBCO. The top senior players in the state were in action, with D-I vs. D-II and D-III vs. D-IV in boys and girls basketball. All-State, Coach of the Year, Player of the Year Awards were announced, and those players were honored at halftime of the games. It's a great event, and the NH Notebook was in the house for all four games.

The big news of the day was that Pembroke Academy senior guard Patrick Welch was being stripped of his Division II Player of the Year award and banned from participating in the D-I vs. D-II all-star game by the NHBCO due to a sportsmanship violation on a social media site. As a result, the award instead went to Bishop Brady junior guard Jourdain Bell. With no Welch in the lineup, the D-I all-stars crushed D-II 114-74. Merrimack guard Eric Gendron dropped a game-high 25 points in the win, and was presented with the D-I Player of the Year award at halftime.

"It's too bad, I would have liked to play against him" Gendron said about Welch.

In the coming days, we'll have recaps of all four games. Fow now, here are your 2013-2014 boys and girls basketball all-state teams, as voted on by the NHIAA coaches.
