D1 Playoff Bracket Contest - 2014
Here's the D1 Boys' Playoff Bracket Contest.
You get 2 points for each Prelim winner. 4 points for each Quarterfinal winner. 8 points for each Semifinal winner and 16 points for picking the Champion.
You also receive underdog winner points. For example if you pick #10 to beat #7 you get 2 points for the game winner and an additional 3 points for a #10 beating a #7. The underdog point system continues right until the Championship game.
Tie - Breaker - Please list the total amount of points scored in the Championship game with your entry.
The deadline for entering is by 6:59 pm sharp !!!! Tuesday night when all the prelim games tap off. If your entry is time stamped 7:00 or after then it is null and void.
As my youngest daughter used to say to my son when he went off to his athletic contests in his youth:
"Gooooooo Luck !!"
PS - Winner will receive...... Haven't decided yet......... Maybe Tulliver can help me out here

Winner receives an autographed piece of sports apparel from T&F's closet of NH Hoops shirts he's panhandled?

Trinity too much for Alvirne
Bedford stays hot to down Pinkerton
Merrimack beats West
Winny runs away from Spaulding
Central continues trek toward perfect season
Londonderry edges BG as Lancers reach Final Four in lord knows how long
Trinity survives Bedford in a thriller
Merrimack's Gendron has Tomahawks thinking Championship
Central ends Lancers title hopes
Trinity makes it an all Manchester Final
Central chants "we undefeated" in the postgame locker room

Come on T@F. Step up to the plate.
Who wants to be in a contest with no prize?
I say let's finally hold T@F ACCOUNTABLE.
T@F HAS to BUY lunch for the winner. I realize you are allergic to picking up a tab, but with all the money you have saved on your wardrobe {free shirts}, and all the money you have saved over dining {free seafood} this season, you surely could pick up ONE measely lunch tab.
You could share all your sports knowledge with the lucky winner and when that 30 seconds is up I will come in and make the rest of the lunch MEMORABLE or should I say REMORABLE for the winner.
Come on T@F , don't just be a taker. Be a giver.

Re: D1 Playoff Bracket Contest - 2014
There is a rumor going around a person, WHO FINISHED DEAD LAST in the Final Standings contest, is squawking some verbiage my way.
Well, I just treat that verbiage as any other I DIDN'T HEAR from people in the stands this season that know about 7 to 9 % of the rules of basketball
Enough for trivial matters.
Prelims:
Central over Concord
Exeter over South - A healthy Holler makes all the difference.
Lond over Salem - This game will be very close.
Memorial over BG in a razor sharp finish.
Trinity over Alvirne
Bedford over Pinkerton
Merrimack over West
Spaulding over Winny
Quarterfinals
Central over Exeter
Lond over Memorial in 7 OTs. Maughn scores 65 points. Lancer concession stand runs out of hot dogs and starts selling Lobster rolls.
Trinity over Bedford - There is no bigger mental obstacle in D1 than the Bulldogs having to go to the McHugh Gym in a cauldron of basketball playoff pressure.
Merrimack over Spaulding
Semifinals
Central over Londonderry - I will keep a low profile in this game. I will be unassumingly on corner baseline on a white horse wearing a Knight's outfit with full armor with a 7 foot Lance and with my Londonderry basketball tee shirt.
Trinity over Merrimack in the game of the tournament. Every year there is THE game of the tournament. This is the one. Close, emotional and intense. Trinity survives this game because they have more players who can score.
Ship
Central over Trinity - Trinity is hoping some team gets Central before the Ship as opposed to "We want them one more time." Not a good mental outlook if you're a Pioneer fan. Central will benefit from the bigger Lundholm floor. Some Pioneer fans are hoping the different shooting background will upset the Little Green visual shooting mojo. I've now used the word hope twice to describe Trinity when playing Central for a 3rd time. That's not good Karma for the Pioneers. It is good Karma for the Little Green.
Central 68 Trinity 60

Winning entry.
Winner gets lunch at Carmens restaurant. T@F said he will buy,
Central ALOT Concord a little
Trinity 90 Alvirne 42. I got a better chance of getting a date with that hot chick from Modern Family then Alvirne has of winning this game.
Merrimack has a ZERO percent chance of losing this game. That's right ZERO. Same old West with off court PROBLEMS.
Salem 54 Londonderry 52. Upset special since I can't go against my boy Migs in his game.
BG 87 Memorial 86. My head says one thing. My heart says another.
Exeter 70 South 62. buoy oh buoy oh buoy.
Bedford 56 Pinkerton 52. Great they get to go to Trinity.
Spaulding 65 Winnie 63. Upset number 2.
Central 76 Exeter 74. Holler drops 40 in a nailbiter.
Trinity 64 Bedford 58. This is Bedford's house of horrors. They STRUGGLE mightily at TRINITY.
BG 68 Salem 52. Game 2 much easier then game one.
Merrimack 80 Spaulding 61. Mack waltzes into Durham.
Central 75 BG 70. Think Doc is sleeping better knowing Boykins is not walking thru that door.
Trinity 65 Merrimack 58. Nobody plays better at Durham then Carmen.
Trinity 63 Central 62. Last year I said how much G reminded me of Danny Duval. Danny won two at Trinity. G puts his team on his shoulders and has a MONSTER game.
Central ALOT Concord a little

Trinity has a decision to make.
People are saying Otis plays if Trinity makes the finals.
Bad move. Sends the wrong message.
BG didn't let Boykins play for the whole tourny.
T@F, your an alum of Trinity. Any thoughts ?

Re: D1 Playoff Bracket Contest - 2014
Not T&F but I disagree. If a punishment is determined and served then that's the end of it. Especially if there were no prior history of issues. The Boykins issue was on non-school, legal issue as I recall. Unfortunately, he seems to have a history of not being able to stay out of trouble...unfortunate. In my mind, if it's a school related issue and the school has a policy - well if the policy is enforced and the punishment is served...end of story...

COMPLETELY DISAGREE
With all due respect to the Boykins situation, it was totally different and has nothing to do with this. Equating them is unfair to both
Ryan Otis is a great kid serving a punishment, He has worked at basketball so extremely hard, that if eligible to play, and he wants to play he should play. If he "shouldn't play" in the Championship the school should have suspended him for that too.
Never do anything to send a message. Follow the rules and do the right thing, let the chips fall where they may. Yes if they play him they will take some heat, do the right thing anyway. Trinity's coaches not allowing him to play would be just trying to avoid criticism. Dave Keefe is a way stronger person than that.
Ryan Otis has sacrificed for Trinity (commuting, leaving childhood friends behind, taking a smaller role than at MV, $, etc etc) To do anything that does not honor that commitment would be cowardly. Trinity allows him to play, too good of people not too.
Of course they have to get there first.
