Winnacunnet Girls Hoops Watch - Page 2 Empty Re: Winnacunnet Girls Hoops Watch

Post  Tuesday and Friday Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:31 am

Big loss for the Winny girls as Ed Beattie confirmed that All State performer Lindsey Mahoney is out for the playoffs with a season ending knee injury. Mahoney injured her knee against Spaulding last week going for a steal, planting her leg and turning on it. Pinkerton and Central both gave Winny close games this season. The L girl's playoffs just became a lot more interesting with this injury to Mahoney.

As of now all of the girl's prelim playoff games are on for 7 pm tonight. There was a question if they would be played, but Manchester AD Dave Gosselin is quoted in today's UL as saying the Dover at Central and Trinity at Memorial games are still on. The Trinity at Memorial game is a toss up. Memorial defeated Trinity at Memorial 40 - 37 on December 18th. Memorial was still growing as a team back then with all their underclassmen and Trinity had some injuries and growing pains themselves learning to play without Karima Gabriel. Both teams played good ball in the last week of the season. This should be a very good game.

Up to #48 in the national rankings, but drop to #10 in the regional rankings...go figure.

WInnacunnet will finish at #45 in the nation. Not bad for a group of girls from small town NH.

They'll finish at #10 in the east region.

My daughter goes to Winnacunnet and she came home and told me today, that Tiffany Ruffin was name ESPN first team all-america! I searched for an article but found nothing, could this small town girl make such a big splash on the national scene?
