Girl's Timberlane 41 Memorial 36 Empty Girl's Timberlane 41 Memorial 36

Timberlane upset Memorial last night 41 to 36. Memorial had a very good start in this game as they went up 9 to 2 and seemed to look like the favored/Top 4 Memorial they would be this season. Amra Elezovic was doing it all in the 1st period by having a hand in Memorial's first 11 points by scoring 7 and having assists on the other 2 baskets. Timberlane hung tough with a gritty motion picking away from the ball offense that freed up players for nice shots. Elezovic then was hampered by foul trouble and this helped Timberlane stay tight with Memorial for the rest of the game. Ashley Gendron made her presence felt in the second half with key baskets as it was now Memorial that had to hang tough with Timberlane as the Owls had 3 to 7 point leads in the 4th quarter. Elezovic fouled out early in the 4th quarter which helped the Owls build a lead and made Memorial play catch up for the whole final stanza.

Memorial's offense has been stuck in neutral for their first 2 games as they have only scored a combined 70 points against Trinity and Timberlane. After watching this game and seeing scores for the rest of D1 girls it is becoming evident early that Londonderry and Winny are 1 and 1A. Not only have their 4 wins been inpressive, but Londonderry is averaging 65 points and Winny is averaging 67 points. Only 1 other team has scored above 60 points so far in D1 girls and it was Salem in their 61 - 26 victory over Concord. While a lot of other D1 girl's offenses are in the Lost of the Lost and Found department Winny and Londenderry have found their offenses early. The other thing that makes these 2 squads in their own little 2 team division right now is quality depth on the bench. Both teams can stretch their benches to a 9th or 10th player while Memorial, for example, goes 7 deep right now.
