Central survives scare vs. Londonderry Empty Central survives scare vs. Londonderry

"Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good". Those were the words of Manchester Central Little Green head coach Ryan Ray as he summed up his teams' thrilling 28-23 victory over Londonderry at Gill Stadium tonight. You had to feel for the Lancers and their standout RB Sean O'Gorman who lost the handle on the football(his fumble was recovered by Central's Ben Mills)on 1st and goal from the Central 2 yard line with about a minute to play and his team about to punch in the potential game winning score. It was another tough luck loss for a Londonderry team that is now 1-5 overall and 1 and 4 in Divsion 1. The teams went up and down the field on each other throughout a 21-21 1st half, but things settled down in the 2nd half as Central QB Jared Chandler scored the only TD of the final 2 quarters with a scamper into the end zone on the final play of the 3rd quarter which made it 28-21 Little Greeen. Londonderry got big games from RB's Vinny Parrilla(over 150 yards on the ground with a TD) and O'Gorman(93 yards and 2 TD's), but couldn't cash in on 2 different possesions inside the Central 10 in the final 5 minutes. Central took an intentional safety to make it 28-23 by snapping the ball thru the endzone instead of trying a risky punt from their own goal line which set up Londonderry's final drive that ended with the unfortunate O'Gorman turnover.
