D1 Bracket...I think
I'm a bit unsure about 14-16...but here's the rationale. Concord/West/Alvirne are 1-1 vs each other so onto tiebreaker 2...rating against tournament teams. West is 3-11, Alvirne 3-12, Concord 2-11...West wins...14. Alvirne/Concord then go to 2 way tiebreaker...Concord won head to head...Concord 15....Alvirne 16.
1. Central vs. 16. Alvirne
8. Exeter vs. 9 South
5. BG vs. 12. Memorial
4. Londonderry vs. 13. Salem
3. Merrimack vs. 14. West
6. Winny vs. 11. Spaulding
7. Bedford vs. 10. Pinkerton
2. Trinity vs. 15. Concord
Round 1 upsets....I think we could see 12 and 13 advancing which would lead to a 12/13 having a shot at Cental at UNH. Be aware of Spaulding in the bottom half, but I still like Winny advancing.

Re: D1 Bracket...I think
Congrats to Alvirne for getting in - your prize... good luck with that matchup.
Exeter & South should be quite entertaining as one would expect of an 8/9 matchup.
BG's not playing a complete game lately, but from all I read, it seems neither does Memorial. The over/under should be somewhere around 150 for these two... even though it's playoff ball. BG certainly has cornered the market on OT games this year. Whichever team comes to play for 4 quarters will win.
Londonderry should have no problems in that matchup - I see no upset here.
Merrimack likewise
Spaulding and Winni could be a 3-ball knockout type game...
Bedford should be able to take down Pinky again, but it won't be easy... What did someone say about momentum and having your team playing well at the right time... A 10 game winning streak after starting 1-7...
Trinity just has too much fire power for Concord

Re: D1 Bracket...I think
According to the NHIAA website it goes...
14-Alvirne
15-Concord
16-West
This means Central would play West, Trinity would play Concord, and Merrimack would play Alvirne

Re: D1 Bracket...I think
Everything seems set from 1 to 13. Seeds 14 to 16 are still up in the air. Dave and Pete had Goody on this morning on their radio show to try to clarify the situation. Between last night and this morning Goody thought he was playing either Alv, West or Concord and bounced back and forth with the tie breakers. Goody enlisted a couple of his players who are really good at math to try to figure it out and he thinks Mack will be playing West in their prelim......... Maybe.

Re: D1 Bracket...I think
Here's what I think the final seedings are:
1 Manchester Central
2 Trinity
3 Merrimack
4 Londonderry
5 Bishop Guertin
6 Winnacunnet
7 Bedford
8 Exeter
(T1) 9 Nashua South (2-0 vs Pinkerton & Spaulding)
(T1) 10 Pinkerton (beat Spaulding)
(T1) 11 Spaulding (lost to Pinkerton)
12 Manchester Memorial
13 Salem
(T2) 14 Manchester West (1-1 vs Alvirne & Concord, 3-11 vs tournament teams)
(T2) 15 Alvirne (1-1 vs West & Concord, 3-12 vs tournament teams)
(T2) 16 Concord (1-1 vs West & Alvirne, 2-11 vs tournament teams)
I'm not sure if you go back to T1 once you go to T2 in a three way tie. If you do, then I agree with the first poster.

Don't see how you can be ranked behind a team you beat. Once the 3-way tie is broken do they not start at the 1st tie breaker for the remaining two teams?

Re: D1 Bracket...I think
That's the key question. Here's how the tiebreaking procedure reads:
Sect. 2: In the event of a tie for any position, the Sports Committee shall resolve the tie using the following criteria, in
order of priority to select the teams. The team(s) shall be seeded as determined by using the tie breaking criteria, 1-8.
A. The criteria for seeding a team is as follows:
1. Rating* in head-to-head competition which shall be the established team rating system based upon contests
against opponents involved in the tie providing they have played each other the same number of times.
2. Rating against NHIAA divisional opponents selected for the tournament including all teams involved in a tie
for the last position. Once the tournament teams have been selected, the teams that were tied for the last
position are no longer used in breaking ties as they are not considered tournament teams.
3. Quality of wins against tournament teams in division including all teams involved in a tie for the last
position. (Ranking) **
4. Rating against divisional opponents on the road***.
5. Rating against divisional opponents at home.
6. Wins on the road regardless of division.
7. Wins at home regardless of division.
8. If teams are tied after the first seven criteria, the team that defeated the highest NHIAA seeded team in their
division (includes both tournament and non-tournament teams) will be selected.
9. As determined by the sports committee.
Once a criterion has been found to break the tie, it will be used to rank the teams involved in the tie. If, after the
original criterion has ranked the teams, existing tie(s) shall be broken by starting at criterion number 1 (head-tohead)
down through the remaining criteria until the tie is broken.
How do you interpret the last paragraph above? My interpretation is that the "criterion that was found" to break the tie was the record against tournament teams, in which the three teams had different records. I think the only way you would revert back to head-to-head is if two teams tied for record against tournament teams.
Your opinion may differ. The good news (perhaps) is that this tiebreaker is for the 14-15-16 seeds, and not 15-16-17.

Re: D1 Bracket...I think
I read that as:
if after doing the ranking math there is still a tie then you go back to head-to-head for the remaining teams tied. In other words the "vs. other teams in the tournament " ranking in this case resulted in a west, alvirne, concord distinct ranking so you do not throw west out and start over. If it resulted in concord and alvirne still being tied you would of started over.
This just cost me the Final Standings winner circle

Now, you know why I wanted to wait until the OFFICIAL final standings were finalized. They obviously are different from THE EDGE'S final standings.
