Memorial Boys Coach Empty Memorial Boys Coach

Post  Tuesday and Friday on Wed Oct 10, 2012 5:40 pm

I've heard it's pretty much a done deal that Jack Quirk will be named the new boy's basketball coach at Memorial. He'll take over for Mike Fitzpatrick who is the new boy's coach at Bedford. Jack was the varsity boys coach at Memorial after Pete Poirier who coached Memorial to 3 state titles in the 70s and 80s. It will be interesting to see how Coach Quirk adjusts to coaching boys basketball after being away from that side for a bit while he was the head coach of the girl's team. It will be interesting to see how the "new" type of player in the Memorial basketball program adjusts to an old school "Fire and Brimstone" coach like Jack.

So, now the Memorial girl's varsity coaching position is vacant as of now.

One interesting dynamic in this situation is that AD Jack Quirk will now play a pivotal role in filling the Memorial girl's coaching job vacated by Coach Jack Quirk.

Jeremy reported the Keene boy's basketball varsity job has been sewn up. Gee, I wonder how many roosters are left in the Keene boy's basketball hen house to guide the new Keene coach along?

6 Keene coaches in the last 8 years on the boy's side? COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO !!!!!!

Very interesting interview on Jeremy's sight with Jack. He (Quirk) does like to talk. Anyone know of top candidates for the girls job? Here is to hoping they do it right with someone qualified, for Allie and Danielle's senior season.

According to today's UL John Habib reports that AD Jack Quirk will not be involved in the process to select the new girl's basketball coach at Memorial......... Interesting:

(From today's UL)
JACK QUIRK, who confirmed earlier this week that his return to the role of boys’ basketball head coach at Memorial is pending the approval of the full school board, said he will not be involved in the process of selecting his successor as Memorial girls’ coach.

“Whoever is the next head coach is going to inherit a very competitive team,” said Quirk, noting that veteran players Allie Hartford, Danielle Fletcher and Makenah Grisson are returning from a team that went 14-4 last season.

“Before I formally applied for the boys’ job, I sat down with the (girls’) captains and told them my leaving the girls’ basketball program had nothing to do with them,” said Quirk, who also serves as Memorial’s athletics director.

“I told them I just wanted to do something different after nine seasons. I’m proud of what we accomplished with the girls’ program. We were 48-24 during the last four regular seasons. We also finished in the top four the last two seasons and came within an overtime period of reaching the finals last year. That’s never been done before at Memorial.”
