Moving on but not out
Some of you may know that I've accepted an offer from my full time employer to move to Kansas in early January and work out of our home office there. That's why you've seen less and less of me both here and on NHSportsPage.com this school year. Its certainly bittersweet in the fact that I'm leaving not only family and friends but parts of what has brought me a lot of joy the last 5+ years here on Forum and on NHSportsPage.
That said - I'm not completely going away, I'll still support the forum as much as I can and be a member of the NHSportsPage staff doing mostly behind the scenes web stuff to keep the site up and running. I won't be covering NEPSAC hoops this year, and will only sparingly be on Twitter and other social medias since I won't be in tune what's going on here in NH nearly as much.
I think we've built a nice community of contributors here on the Forum and hope that continues, my goal when I started this was to create a safe place free from ridicule and pointless jabs at refs, players, coaches, parents and schools. I think we've achieved a nice common ground where we can be passionate about these things but also keep it civil. I will lean even heavier on the moderators now that I'm taking a step back, so please respect them and treat them with dignity as they attempt their best to be impartial in all situations. Its not always easy.
Enjoy the hoops season, I'll check in from time to time in Jayhawk country!

Sounds like a great opportunity for you! It'll be awesome to get to go to games in basketball crazed environs (and let's not forget how crazy football gets out there too)! Thank you for providing a place for "us" to come debate, agree, disagree, and keep things mostly civil in a somewhat anonymous manner if one still chooses to be that way.

Trading lobster and clams for Kansas City strip? It's a close call! Best of luck Eliot. Thanks for all you have done for this forum.

Yes, good luck to Eliot as he moves onward and upward. Many thanks for giving HS sports' aficionado's in the Granite State a place to discuss their passions.

Bittersweet Congrats
Congrats to you! You've done a very cool thing here and I know that you will do even greater things in the days to come.
Hope you're not too distant from us though - you gotta at least check in !

Re: Moving on but not out
Bittersweet is absolutely the best word to describe this move. I'll certainly be checking in (had to renew the site today sorry I let that slide). Love the NH sports scene and I will be back at some point for sure.
Another leaves NH
After a lifetime of joy in NH, my wife and I made the decision to move out of NH. It wasn't job related, but more to be closer to where our boys are going to school. My middle son is starting Law School at UNC Chapel Hill this fall and my youngest is a sophomore at Belmont Abbey in Belmont, NC. We will be able to see them more often and then start looking for a place closer to a beach!
So we sold a lot of stuff, gave quite a bit to goodwill, sold our house, left our shovels, snowblower, and lawn tractor in Litchfield and moved to Charlotte, NC. I'll continue to follow the Forum, but certainly my focus will fade. Unfortunately over the last couple years the activity in this Forum has dwindled... Twitter is the current fad, but it too will fall by the wayside.

Your contributions have been invaluable John, thank you for your time!
I too gave up the tractor and blower, unfortunately I wish I was a little closer to Chapel Hill and my Heels. Enjoy the warmer weather and proximity to your family!

Good luck to you and your family, John. It's been great conversing with you on and off The Forum. You've always had some great insight for many subjects here on the Forum. Our history together started when our sons competed against each starting about 15 years ago with those Epic travel basketball battles. Our coaching/fan relationship evolved into the refereeing world. We always respected each other's point of view. Even when we agreed to disagree, we did it as respectful gentlemen and that was important.
I will miss your opinions and insight. I hope everything works out for you and your family in NC. Give my best to your wife. She was always a positive supporter of your sons in their endeavors. She had a glass half full attitude all the times I talked to her.
Give NC basketball the benefit of the doubt and then impart your wisdom on them

I haven't signed on in a while, so I just caught this. I, too would like to wish John ("JAF") well. I have enjoyed your insight. You have been a "voice of reason" in many different discussions. Best of luck to you and your family. Enjoy the weather!
