Concord 10 runs BG Empty Concord 10 runs BG

Time to put Concord in the conversation of teams that have a chance to win it. After beating North and their ace Turner on Friday, they came out and bashed BG and their ace Gilcrest. Cody has been terrific all year, but today Concord took it to the green and gold. I know nyk wrote that North handed them their game with all their errors, but in this game they had their hitting shoes on.No excuses but, {why is there always a but after I write no excuses} Cody has been battling a stiff back for a week now, and I am sure this raw, damp, wet weather didn't help. He went 3 innings and that was it.
Hats off to Concord, they have 5 losses {all quality teams}, and to beat these 2 pitchers back to back really is a feather in their cap.
I thought it was a great move pitching Gilcrest today, even though it didn't work out as planned. Coach Painter wanted to get the win today and didn't shuffle his rotation. JAF can give a better recap I didn't get there until the third inning, and the score was already 5-0.
I love that field in Concord, great facility. Easily in my top 5 fields in division 1.

Upset special Timberlane beat Winnie...

Granted I didn't see Winnacunnet, but by far Concord was the best hitting lineup I've seen top to bottom. In the first with the leadoff player on 2nd, the #3 batter hits a single to RF by taking the pitch the other way - nice piece of hitting... In the second, they load the bases on hbp, walk, and infield hit off pitchers glove, then a solid single to cf scores 2, a 6-3 gets another, and another single to cf gets the 4th run of the inning. It's 5-0 after two and BG bats we left at Lund Rd. In the 3rd it was a walk, another rf single, a sac fly to right, a couple of walks, another single to cf and it's 8-0. Time for bullpen... The only good thing - by the time I got on the highway it was raining pretty hard so at least we didn't get wet to add to the misery.

I wasn't there but I heard that there were two strike zone - somewhat like the strike zones at keene. Did anyone feel this was the case?
