Danielle Walczak Named America East Rookie of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass - University of Maine women's basketball freshman Danielle Walczak (Lee, N.H.) has been named this week's America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Walczak had a solid week for the Black Bears as she averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game against the top two teams in America East. Walczak shot 45.5% from the field and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line over the past week.

Against Boston University, Walczak tallied 11 points with four rebounds and an assist. It was the fourth time this season that the freshman forward had scored in double-figures. At Albany, Walczak tallied eight points and five rebounds while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

The honor is the first for the Black Bears this season and the first since Ashleigh Roberts (Wilmington, Del.) garnered Rookie of the Week honors on Feb. 14, 2011.
