My Exit by Mr Mitchell Empty My Exit by Mr Mitchell

Post  chicagokid43 Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:39 am

Tonight was not a lost temper it was a planned exit. I feel like I went to see Basketball and a football game broke out. I will not go into details but I never used an obscenity and I never called anyone anything out of line. My one line was I have seen better officiating at a 3rd and 4th grade travel game. My one line and only one line. The referee went down to talk to our AD who came to within a few people and myself and sat down. I looked to him and said so was that enough to get me a warning or what... Referee walked to the the other end of the court and asked me to be removed. I was glad, I did not want to be there to see the game get even worse which I am told it did. I had already seen three tackles and 2 front side reversals and I had had enough.
As for the game by my text I guess Milford turned the Defense on and pulled away.
One thing I did see was Kyle Nelson catch a alley Ooop that was one of the best highlights of the season... Nice job Kyle.

My Exit by Mr Mitchell Empty Youtube

Post  basketballtime Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:37 am

I think anytime you have a game that is so horribly called and you feel kids are in danger including your own then by all means you should as a parent or fan for that matter post it where people can see what was going on. If people who are in a position to control a game dont want to or can't for whatever reason then i have no problem on anyone calling them out on it. Whether it be on youtube or to the head of the NHIAA or other media outlets so be it until somethings done for the safety of the kids.

BG North game was also out of control more to do with BG then the refs they called lots of fouls and tried to keep the game in control but it just impossible with the style of play I am becoming less and less of fan of it everytime I see it. The hand checking is absurd, NH refs need to get their act together and stop this type of play. It ruins the flow of the game. BG would be a fun team to watch if they did not play D they way they play it.

The alvirne spaudling game got out of hand with probably about 4 minutes left in the game. Tomaswick got thrown too the ground after a box out. Both got T'S. Beaulieu and another kid where going at it Both got T'S. Just a very physical game at the end spaulding was frustrated. But the refs didnt do a good job controling it it was getting out of hand quick and they just sat back until Donelly got thrown to the floor.

Goldenbear not sure I saw as much handchecking as you seem to believe there was. And the refs did call it last night. Defense is allowed to have their hands out and it is allowed to be active. No they cannot turn, stop, slow down, etc. their opponent. Contact doesn't necessarily mean foul. Did the defender win the right to a certain spot on the court - did the offensive player initiate the contact. I actually thought North was more aggressive with their attempts to slow down BG. Curious - did you find it acceptable to see #22 from North with his pushing and shoving all done on the weak side when he knew the ball was in an area where both refs would probably be watching it. Far side of trail about foul line extended to 3pt arc. Trail needs to watch for shot and/or crash - lead needs to accept ball into his PCA. If you believe the players aren't coached to know where the refs are and what they're watching, then you might need to rethink things. When the playoffs roll around the players will need to get used to a 3-man system which should catch more of that, but until then let's try to enjoy the games. Most Seniors have 4-6 games left - 2-3 weeks of basketball.

My Exit by Mr Mitchell Empty Sounds like it's rampant.

Post  basketballtime Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:18 pm

So my point here is it seems rampant and nobody seems to be fixing it? I just want to go to game and see basketball being played period not football not hockey just basktetball. I want to see plays on the offensive and defensive side of the ball where i can say great basketball is being played out there. Is that really so hard to have? I feel if your going to patch officials then make sure they at least now what their doing. Don't get me wrong i know there are good ones out there that do know what their doing and have played the game and understand the flow of the game and the all the rules and tricks and trades that go along with it. But for the ones who are clueless and are out there to either collect some extra cash or feel that by wearing stripes gives them some type of power trip then they shouldn't be out there ever. Time to clean up the mess NHIAA.

My Exit by Mr Mitchell Empty Police Policing Themselves

Post  chicagokid43 Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:27 pm

Let me give you how I really feel about the physicality of the game I saw last night. Police got away with bad police work, assault and overall bad conduct until Rodney King and the Dash board camera started to bring to light the incidents. That is how I feel about the state of affairs with with the officiating. I am very close to going on a crusade and filming games and accepting video next year to edit and expose the bad state of affairs of this group. I honestly feel that is the only way the current regime will ever take it seriously enough to get things under control. Last night was absolutely horrible. Jamie Holder was grabbed by the throat and pulled head first to the ground and called for a foul. My son was tackled from behind once and run completely over the second time with no call on either play. It was not 50/50 calls it was a player being taken to the ground on a play in the open floor and the referee again with hands extended out calling nothing. And before anyone jumps on me complaining about calls we did not get, it went the other way as well. Milford soon started grabbing and pulling as well and what was meant to be a free flowing game with athletes and speed soon turned into a pull and tug catastrophe of a proportion that I was actually relieved to be asked to leave. It is a truly sad state that I was willing to be walked out of the gym to make that point.

My Exit by Mr Mitchell Empty Re: My Exit by Mr Mitchell

I agree that none of us want to see a football game break out during the basketball games as it takes away from everything we go to watch. I've seen it once this year in a game didn't make it to the Milford game last night but it sounds like thats what I would've seen. But I don't think that's as prevalent as the inconsistency with the officials in NH. I think that's the biggest problem. Obivously if the games getting to physical and the refs aren't taking control then the state should look into it but what i'd like to see is more consistency. I understand officiating is not easy and I've tried to limit myself to critizing officials this year but in most of the games I've been to this year I've seen either one official letting hand checks/physical play go and the other official calling a tight game. Or the first half both officials will let the hand checks/physical play go and then 2nd half it all the sudden becomes tightly officiated. Now I don't mind physical play as long as it's kept undercontrol and it's called that way the whole game. That is what I think is the biggest problem with officiating today not so much them letting the game get completely out of control.
