Tues. 1/12

Post  NH12345 on Mon Jan 11, 2016 1:12 pm

First of let me start by saying thanks to www.nhsportsforum.com for getting their webpage back Very Happy

A lot of great games on the slate for Tuesday (again, I only know D1, so those who following the lower divisions please jump in!)

GAME OF THE NIGHT!!!
Central v. North-- A possible UNH Match up in January, you got to love it. There will be an interesting flavor to this bout as both teams will be lead by their assistant coaches. Should not take much away from the talent on the court though. Central wins.

Exeter v. Londonderry-- This is as big ticket of a game as Holyfield v. Tyson.  Coach Stanton and Coleman have Londonderry going in the right direction after a tough opening night loss to Bedford.  They are starting to play with the confidence that they can beat anyone.  Exeter is the team in D1 that everyone is chasing.  Holmes, Morisette and Larkin are all play at All State Levels.  Tough to go against Londonderry as I think they will be competitive all night, but until someone beats Exeter (especially after their impressive Queen City run), they are the team to beat in Division 1.  This could very well be a preview of a UNH match up.  Exeter wins a tight one.

Winnacunnet v. Bedford-- If Gendron bangs down low, Bedford is a tough team to beat.  Between him and Hughes they have the ability to finish as a top 8 team.  Winnacunnet is going to finish as a top 8 team.  They play hard and have the ability to score the ball with multiple guys.  Winnacunnet wins.

Merrimack v. Concord--  Concord lost a hard fought battle against Exeter falling 10 points short.  Merrimack is coming off a loss at BG in which they never really got going.  Goody will get his boys back on track for this game and turn it into a defensive battle.  Merrimack wins.

Dover v. Memorial-- Dover picks up their first win of the year at home v. Keene.  Unfortunately for them they are facing a battle ready Memorial group that battled Central to the buzzer.  Memorial wins.

BG v. South--  South has yet to hit their stride as they are still trying to figure things out.  They have one of the best scorers in Frechette, but need keep falling short.  Mazz will get them going in the right direction sooner rather than later.  Migs and BG are already going in the right direction.  They are 2-2 on the season, but have also played Exeter, Londonderry and Merrimack, all of which are top teams.  The Cardinals are going to need to figure a way to slow Frechette.  BG wins.

Pinkerton v. Alvirne-- Alvirne is a hard working group, but lacks scoring.  They will work to try and control the Astros, but I think they will struggling scoring on Pinkerton.  Pinkerton wins.

Pembroke v. Spaulding-- Spaulding plays a grind them out game.  They pick up their first win tonight against a struggling Pembroke squad.  Spaulding win.

9-2 on the season

Bosco will tell you that is because Timberlane is the real deal this year.

Portsmouth Windham should be a good match up.

I'm a D1 guy as well, so here are my thoughts...

Central v. North - Central's main 3 have too much firepower for North to stop. Close game in the first half, then Central pulls aways.

Exeter v. Londonderry - I haven't seen Exeter yet, but from what I have read, the two guards should be able to play a physical game that should stymie Coleman and the L'Derry guards. Exeter shuts them down, and wins. ( If Londonderry somehow adjusts, and pulls this off... they become a UNH contender.)

Winni v Bedford - Winni too quick. Press will force Bedford turnovers, and slashers get Gendron in foul trouble early. Winnacunnet big.

Merrimack v Concord - Stifling D swarms. 'Mack wins

South v BG -  South proves that BG's win over Merrimack was an anomaly. South

Pinkerton v Alvirne - Alvirne always plays tough, but Pinkerton has too much talent, size and skill, and are still stinging from the Winni loss. Pinkerton

Spaulding v Pembroke - battle for the first round draft pick. Spaulding.

Well, the key term for tonight is "makes no sense."

BG beats Merrimack by 17 and then loses to South by 35? "Makes no sense"

Central beats North by 39 points? "Makes no sense"

Lond beats Exeter by 16 and it seems the Lancers were in control of this game throughout. "Makes no sense"

Timby beats Windham by 16 and then turns around and loses to John Stark by 13? "Makes no sense"

Girls  Basketball Hoop:

Winny girls beat North by 25 and then turn around and lose to Bedford by 16? "makes no sense"

Powerball Jackpot at 1.5 Billion now? "Makes no sense"

Recaps on a lot of games in the UL. Hale didn't play for North against Central. Bedford got a last second winning basket from Gendron to defeat Winny.

Unusual start to the Exeter at Londonderry boy's game: Exeter shoots 2 technical FTs and then inbounds the ball at the division line. It seems, according to ace reporter Pete Tarrier, that Lond had their starting lineup in the book, but then substituted 1 different starter to start the game. You can see the scenario right at the start of the NHSP video. scratch scratch scratch
