Friday 1/22
OnTheBlock is starting to create distance between him and I with all his correct picks, so I am going to have to make up some ground Friday. . . 22-10 on the young season
GAME OF THE NIGHT #3 Merrimack v. #4 Londonderry
I like Merrimack in this contest, but my gut tells me not to go against Coach Stanton and Jake Coleman. Stanton has done a fantastic job thus far this season with his group. Goody will need to keep this game in the 40s if he wants to pull off a win. Londonderry's run and gun is going to get Merrimack going up and down too much to pull this one off. Londonderry wins
#5 Winnacunnet v. BG
Migs group is dangerous and they are showing signs of being a team that will be able to compete down the stretch, but at this point in the season they are still learning and too inconsistent. Winnacunnet will bounce back and put too much pressure on BG's backcourt. Winny wins
#1 Pinkerton v. Dover
Pinkerton is too big and too talented. If they show up ready to go like they did against Central, it will be tough for any team to beat the Astros. The Academy wins.
Salem v. Concord
Concord has some talent, but they are not ready yet to compete consistently. The loss to Timberlane will be a huge shot to team morale. Salem needs some wins and quick if they want to be considered a contender come March. Salem wins.
#7 Exeter v. #8 South
Big measuring stick for South. South has yet to beat anyone in the www.nhsportsforum.com top 8 and is looking for a statement game. Unfortunately for them, they are matching up against a team that should finish in the final 4 come March. Morrisette, Larkin and Holmes should be able to match up with the guards at South. Exeter wins.
#6 North v. Keene
If they drive to Keene doesn't put them to sleep North should win this game. If Keene could pull off the upset it would put them right back into the contender bracket. North is playing too well right now for this upset to happen. North wins
Spaulding v. #2 Central
Central bounces back after a tough loss at Pinkerton. Too much for Spaulding. Central wins
Trinity v. Pembroke
Pembroke is still seeking their first win in the post Alosa era. Trinity is a solid club that could make some noise and I think they do tonight. Trinity wins
Bedford v. Alvirne
Bedford has been a very interesting team thus far. Beating #4 Londonderry, then losing to #3 Merrimack by 30, Losing to #8 South by 15 but then bouncing back to beat #5 Winnacunnet. Alvirne is still looking for consistent scoring from someone without the last name Brown. This a game Bedford needs if they want to crack the nhsportsforum.com top 8. Bedford wins.

Re: Friday 1/22
17-3 after a disappointing Concord loss on Tuesday...
Merrimack v Londonderry - Going to be a great contest. Teams are well matched. But, this one comes down to how well the teams know themselves on the court. The kids from 'Mack have all played together since elementary school. I can remember lil Woj & Kerr as if it were yesterday. That experience wins out. Merrimack takes this. ( Winner is the top, and loser is the bottom of the 5th-8th spots come the end of the season.)
Winnacunnet v Bishop Guertin - Still trying to understand the BG win over Merrimack. Anything can happen on any given night, but, probably not tonight. Winnacunnet takes it.
Pinkerton v Dover - PA has one guard feeling better, but another goes down to a minor injury. Doesn't matter, Pinkerton has too much firepower. A lot to a little - Pinkerton
Salem v Concord - The tide don't have the bigs that Trinity, Bedford, and Pinkerton have that stopped Vartanian. He has a big night for the Blue Devils. Salem coasts.
Exeter v South - Two top 8 teams here. Three tough games in 5 days for South coming. It's gut check time. Can they play enough D to stop Exeter? When will Osgood be healthy? Either way, I'm going with South.
North v Keene - Keene continues to play teams tough. But they are in a downward spiral. It continues tonight, as North shows why it deserves to be a top 8 team. - North
Spaulding v Central - The Leroy/McDonald/Makiori trio can not be happy after the loss to PA last week. Central is about to go off on a string of wins and shows they are a top 2 team in this division. Central
Trinity v Pembroke - The Alosa curse continues. Despite their size, and good underclassmen, Pembroke needs to be in D2. This could be a confidence building game for Trinity. Trinity wins
Bedford v Alvirne - Interesting matchup. Alvirne has good tenacity. Bedford must not get pushed into turnovers, and play good fundamental basketball. Is the new coach starting to get the boys on the right track? We'll see. I think the 3 game win streak gets extended. Bedford
As we know, anything can happen with High School Basketball. I'll predict a 7-2 night. Bound to have something go astray.
