The Auburn Pitts brings you Notes on Openers, Jamborees and Radio Shows

By Dave Haley

Our 2nd annual Coaches for a Cause Jamboree kicks off tonight at 5 o’clock at Londonderry high school and continues with five games on Saturday starting at noon.

Here is the schedule of games:

Friday night
5 pm: Alvirne vs. Manchester West
6:30: Goffstown vs. Sunapee
8:00: Londonderry vs. Coe-Brown

Saturday
12:00: Trinity vs Pelham
1:30: Bishop Guertin vs. Berlin
3:00: Manchester Memorial vs. Lebanon
4:30: Pembroke Academy vs. Conant
6:00: Manchester Central vs. Portsmouth

$5 buys you an all-day pass and that money goes towards New Horizons of Manchester. Sponsors for the event include Team Nissan, The Manchester Bingo & Poker Room, The Southside Tavern, Zoo Health Club, and The Puritan Backroom & United Physical Therapy.

Justin McIsaac & I have gone completely old school rap in what the kids will be warming up to and if you still have complaints after McIsaac painstakingly removed all the swears please feel free to stop Pete Tarrier on the street (he lives in Goffstown) and tell him.

We are back in studio Saturday morning for The New Hampshire High School Hoop Show as Lisbon coach Sam Natti will be our guest to discuss opening night and his picks for the Saturday’s Jamboree games.
Listen live on from 8 to 9 am on WGIR 610 AM or 96.7 FM on the seacoast.

Division III & IV Basketball kicks off tonight and if over 9,000 words of previews didn’t get you up to speed here’s a look at the most intriguing games of the night:

-Groveton at Woodsville: Jamie Walker’s team has a chance to steal a big win on opening night, if you’re going to get Groveton you want to get them early and this one, right off the bat, is a big one.

-Winnisquam at Mascoma: If the Bears look at themselves as a contender they have to win a game like this on the road. Mascoma is a really hard place to go into and win but again, if you look at yourself as a true contender you get it done.

- Newport at Hopkinton: I think a lot of people are very interested in the new look Newport Tigers….and whether Hopkinton is going to compete for a top 8 seed in Division III.
