But in Merrimacks defense, they did not have their entire team on the court.

BG over Alvirne (BG may be the best team in d1)
Bedford over Trinity (Trinity down)
PA over Merrimack (This may be PA's season, looking at tweets to left)
Milford over Chelmsford (Good for Milford!!)
North Middlesex over Nashoba (Close game)
Lebanon over MV ( guessing)

Pembroke is clearly a top 4 contender.

Londonderry was swamped by Lawrence.

Others?

Tried to cut and paste the standings didn't work came out jumbled. Talking with a few coaches.
Leaders
Bracket A - Bedford (young and good) 3-1
Bracket B - Lawrence (best team so far) 3-0
Bracket C - Salem (Undefeated against some pretty good teams) 3-0
Bracket D - Lebanon (blown everyone out so far) 4-0

Some really good players, can't wait until Winter.

Anybody can coach a team in fall league. It is illegal for a head coach to coach their team in fall league.

As in the previous two years, Pembroke doesn't have anyone coaching them during the fall league, the team makes their own substitutions.

Is there a website that has standings and schedules? Also, surprised to see some of these records. Im guessing a lot of teams are playing without key players who are playing fall sports?

I don't believe there is a web site. You just have to go with info you can scrape together.

Standings aren't a true reflection of the whole situation. Football & soccer take away a given number on a given Sunday......

.......And then there's Memorial..... A team not playing Fall League, but a team capable of answering the bell for any game any where at any time.

Re: Fall League

Post  Tuesday and Friday on Wed Oct 01, 2014 6:46 pm

Clancy, here is my take on Memorial:

What ever they did in summer league means NOTHING. What ever they do in the regular season, for the most part, means NOTHING. They were 8 - 10 heading into the tournament and beat BG the #5 seed at their place. They then went to the #4 seed's gym in Londonderry and beat them fairly solidly in the quarters. They had #1 Central on the veritable ropes for a good portion of the semi final. Central was worried. They were down by nearly 20 in the first half and NOBODY on the best defensive team in D1 could cover Trevon Maughn as he torched the vaunted LG defense. Maughn, unfortunately, picked up 4 offensive fouls out of his 5 fouls when he fouled out. I don't think this 4 offensive foul aberration will happen again for Trevon in March next season.

Memorial showed they could play on the road or on a neutral court against the # 1, #4 and #5 seeds. That's impressive. I don't care if they rack up 18, 12 or 8 regular season wins this season. When it comes to the playoffs and IF every Crusader behaves themselves on and off the court, no matter whether they are the #1, #5 or #10 seed heading into the playoffs, if they have every player ready to go they will be my favorite to win it all.

Why do I say this? Well, just about every team is a step or two down from last season, except for Memorial. They have Maughn, the returning leading scorer in D1 who doesn't care what you throw at him for defense. His range is a few feet under the division line. He's the best scorer and shooter in D1. Kabongo would be the best player on any other D1 team this season. On Memorial he's the 2nd scoring option. He's a hybrid of post scoring and outside shooting. Not too many forwards in D1 has his tools. Soph guard Craig Preston has a great makeup, handles the ball well and hits dagger 3s when the opposing defenses are concentrating on Maughn and Kabongo. Wade Gopp plays much bigger than his slithery 6 foot frame. He can go off for 15 to 18 in any game if the matchups are right. He is a great shot blocker. 6'2 soph forward Brandon Scott is a beast on the boards. He does the dirty work in the paint with rebounds and defense so the other 4 can score. He's a very smart defensive player. 6'0 junior Malo Roumraj came on strong in the 2nd half of last year. He scored and rebounded with authority. He's another shot blocker for the Crusaders.

So, Lebanon could beat them in the Jamboree. They might flounder in the regular season as the wrinkles between the players and Coach Quirk are constantly being ironed out, but when the REAL season starts and if the Crusaders toe the line as a team....... Well, they'll be a lot of fun to watch in March of 2015.
