D1 Boys Semifinals
Merrimack vs Trinity: The regular season game was a physically intense war. Trinity eeked out the victory at home. Merrimack matches up with Trinity very well when Trinity has all their players. Take away 1 of Trinity's starters......... Well, then the Tomos match up even better. In their regular season game Gendron picked up a quick 3 fouls and the Tomos were swimming against the basketball tide and still almost came up with a W. Trinity also received some luck in the Quarterfinal victory over Bedford when Ryan Brown went down with a knee injury in the first minute of the game and didn't come back. It would be easy to say given all these factors you have to feel Merrimack has an advantage tonight. The one thing Trinity has going for them is their 1-2 Paint Duo of G and G have been outstanding in the playoffs and are playing like they're on a mission. Bourque can play mano 0 mano with one of them, but not both. So, somebody not named Bourque on Merrimack is going to have to play at a higher level tonight if Mack wants to play at High Noon this coming Saturday for the Ship. This is just a great semifinal matchup. As I've stated before there is always one game in the tournament which is THE GAME and this game will be the one.
Central vs Memorial: The Crusaders have the glass slipper half way on. I don't think it surprises too many fans who really follow HS hoops that Memorial is in the Final Four. Memorial has been the "team you don't want to play in March" since about mid-January. The Crusaders are playing real well and the eerie thing is they look like they're actually behaving and getting along like a basketball religious revival. They don't have bad body language. They are actually listening to Coach Quirk and they are moving the ball around nicely on offense..... eerie. Central, so far in the playoffs, have been the Dennis Green: "They are who we thought they were going to be." They've won their 2 playoff games by a combined 63 points. The first half will be the most important half. If Memorial is close at halftime and feels the momentum then it will be a close game and Crusader-Rella might dance a bit. If Central gets any sort of a double digit lead in the first half they will push it to 20 plus in the 2nd half and the slipper will break into a lot of pieces on the Lundholm gym floor.

Little bit of Hoosiers here at UNH. At the half Memorial 40 Central 31. Trevon Maughn has 23 points. He's halfway to James Best's single game tournament record of 46 points. Can Maughn & Memorial get the slipper 3/4 of the way on????

Re: D1 Boys Semifinals
Nice run by Memorial it does seem the kids get hit harder on here then any group of players. Saw them play at Central just before they got hot and they did not look like they belonged on the same court, no Kabango. But they played a great game and hung in there even after Maughn picked up his 5th. Great coaching job by coach Quirk.
This Central team is the best team I have seen in NH some time, what a great game.

Re: D1 Boys Semifinals
The Central victory over Memorial 99 to 91 in 2 OTs was one for the ages. I can't tell you how much there is to process about this tremendous game. There was actually about 3 games played in this 1 game. I have the box scores for one of the best HS games ever played at UNH and certainly the best game played this season in the Granite State:
Memorial - 22 18 15 25 8 3 - 91
Central - 18 13 29 20 8 11 - 99
Memorial - Maughn 30 Kabongo 29 Gop 11 Scott 6 Roumraj 5 Simpson 4 Preston 3 Philibert 3
Central - Joe Martin 36 Jon Martin 27 Hanson 19 Kelley 14 Dickson 3
The Martin Bros combined for 63. Maughn and Kabongo combined for 59.
I will have a write up on NHN on this game, but because of the amount of information to process from this once in a lifetime game, it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I just feel very fortunate to have witnessed this game and all the drama that went with it. Both teams played their hearts out. Both coaches went through the coaching box wringer. It was HS basketball at it's finest level.
