Elmira, NY – Liz Forrest '14 of the Women's Basketball team has been named Elmira College Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 25th.
Forrest paced three players in double figures in the scoring column as the Women's Basketball team upended host Wells College, 70-47, Sunday afternoon. She finished with 16 points and six rebounds on just six shot attempts. The junior converted four of those tries including her only attempt from downtown. Meanwhile, Forrest was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe and five of her six boards came on the offensive glass.

All Tournament team
Liz Forrest '14 of the women's basketball team has been named the EC Athletes of the Week for the week ended November 17, 2013. Forrest helped the women's basketball team open their 2013-14 campaign with a 1-1 record at the Emerson College Tournament over the weekend. The fourth-year forward averaged 12.5 points and nine rebounds in the two games, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team for her standout play.
In Saturday's season opener against Manhattanville College, Forrest tallied 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block in 35 minutes of action as the Soaring Eagles defeated the Valiants 67-58 to advance to the championship game. Forrest and her teammates nearly won the Emerson College tournament but fell to the host in the final game by a score of 58-53. The captain contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, and one assist while playing 38 minutes in the defeat.
Elizabeth is 2010 Fall Mountain Regional graduate.

Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll
Lilburn, GA -- Months after completing their most successful season in seven years, the Elmira College women's basketball team has more to celebrate after being named to the 2013-14 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. EC came in at number six in the 25-team Honor Roll, finishing the 2013-14 academic year with a team cumulative grade point average of 3.593. Elmira is one of three Empire 8 institutions to make it onto the WBCA's list, joining Ithaca College (8th) and Utica College (24th).
"Earning a spot in the Top-25 shows that our women can be both great students and great athletes" said Head Coach Shannon Howley. "It is a great honor to be recognized by the WBCA and rounds out our 2013-14 year in a positive way."

The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes women's basketball teams across the nation in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, the NAIA, and junior/community colleges that carry the highest combined grade point averages. The 2013-14 season is the 19th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
