BG vs Trinity Championship
The scene from St. Peter's Square was truly inspiring. GNG was crying as Pope Francis announced himself to the Catholic World. Migs and Keefa knelt down in homage as the Catholic faith was truly inspired by the Catholic Artist formely known as Jorge Mario put his leadership to the worshipers. The Trinity and BG teams looked to inspiration for their Championship game by touring the Sistine Chapel and hoping the Iconic artistry of the Hand of God gives them all the power to produce baskets between 3:00 and 4:30 pm this Saturday at Lundholm.
As all of the players from BG and Trinity came back to their homeland:
The Good Ol U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A
We know look to turn our attention from the White Smoke, St Peter's Square and the Hand of God to the Championship Game between BG and Trinity at 3:00 pm on Saturday.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
It be A LOT closer than the game earlier this season. BG does not want this season to end on a bad note, and this group is as close knit as I have seen. They will fight to the last breath, unlike the team a month ago. As for Trinity, I have no idea what to expect from them.

My favorite part of our game video is me cackling off camera in the final minute of the interview with Coach Migneault as he tries to paint BG as the beaten up toy nobody wanted because I didn't pick them in the Top 10 back in December.
I like coach, alot, but BG as the underappreciated underdog is a little hard to swallow..

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
Not to start an argument, but BG were the underdog in almost every preseason poll. They were not picked by many to beat Central or Spaulding, despite people saying they would be close games. They lose a game and everyone thinks the wheels are falling off, but Trinity loses to Merrimack and its just a blimp on the radar. I think it is a very easy pill to swallow.

BG vs Trinity Championship
Conventional wisdom would argue for a Trinity victory. They have size, speed and skilled players. They play with a poised violence and they have players who have been in this situation before, with something to prove. Earlier this year the Trinity boys traveled to BG's gym and beat the Cardinals on their home court. Trinity seems to be a group of boys who like each other, at least that's their body language speaks to. They are well coached and a well oiled machine. Conventional wisdom is that Trinity wins by 14+pts.
Though, this is the playoffs...conventional wisdom sometimes gets turned on it's head during the playoffs. Indeed, conventional wisdom and outside observers alike, have been fooled throughout this year when assessing this band of brothers from BG. Sure, Migs can't boast about having a roster, full of well known studs basketball players, because he doesn't. What BG does have is a bunch of really good athletes who like really each other, pull for each other, play well together and check their egos at the gym doors. All season long, on any given night, another no-name player has stepped up and had a big night, either on defense or found a way to put up 12-14 unanswered points. Not to say that Trinity is not a sum of it's parts, making it the best team in the Division thus far, but surely BG is the embodiment of the sum of the parts, with a lot of heart, mental toughness, with an adroit deafness to the naysayers.
Well, no doubt, I bleed, green and gold. I've watched them from a close vantage point all season. I will be cheering for the team of no-name, over-achievers who have defied conventional wisdom. Though, I don't begrudge those that have subscribed to conventional wisdom because, if not for bleeding green and gold, I would probably be in the cheering section for Trinity. Yet, this is the playoffs and anything can happen...just ask the Patriots. I'd like to think that Trinity doesn't have a 14pt win in the cards, maybe they do, probably they will, but Migs has pulled some rabbits out of his hat thus far with a bunch of boys with no names who have stepped up in small ways and have had some big games...if the stars align...anything can happen...after all this is the playoffs and anything can happen....Do you believe on miracles...of course we do...it's a matter of faith.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
All Trinity has to do is tie up Lunn. Guertin is very overrated, heck Concord had them beat this year except for a last second 3 pointer. Trinity easily by 15 to 20 pts.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
I too thought BG was a one trick pony until I saw them play. Good coaches develop their team throughout the season which is exactly what Coach Migs has done. Obviously Trinity is the favorite to win on Saturday, however, BG deserves to be respected as they dispatched the number 2 and 3 seeds to reach the final.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
BG has one stud in Lunn. Sometimes one is all you need, especially when you mix in a few role players.
Trinity has two studs. G and Mabor. They are players Bishop Guertin MUST account for.
I struggle to figure how the match-ups would play should Mignault decide to go man to man. Who covers those two? I don't think BG can.
Therefore, I believe Mignault is working on lots of zone stuff---- half. 3/4, or full. Can Trinity solve the zone? They better be ready. I was not at the game, but, from what I read and heard, Spaulding wasn't.
Overrated as Mr. sjsprague has suggested? BG starts out by winning 5 straight. Then loses to Memorial by 3. No embarrassment there. They then win 3 more in a row, but follow that with 3 loses in a row to Trinity, Merrimack, and South. No embarrassment there. They finish up, to this point, with 8 out of 9. The only loss to Spaulding on the road which they have avenged. Overrated? 16-5 to date. I suppose it is not 20-1 as Trinity is, but......BG has a player who many considered POY material. They have a coach who works hard and won a championship 2 years ago. They have been getting contributions all season from different sources. Maybe it's just coming together at the right time.
I do not believe that I will call them overrated. Perhaps the entire division is overrated. Sometimes, in sports, a team just gets hot, they start believing in themselves and a ball or two bounces their way. Luck and fate move to their side of the gym. An opponent misses a free throw, a ball squirts out of bounds, an official's call goes their way.....and all of a sudden you have Cinderella. We have seen it many times. Watch the NCAA tournament next week.
If you want to call BG Cinderalla, ok. It may be the 2nd time in two years that the 7th seed prevails in the Championship. I, however, believe that Trinity will be up to the task. Their two big men, G and Mabor, prevail on the glass. But I have been wrong before.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
Just saw Coach Keefe with his son, and G on the local cable sports show {co- hosted by my cousin}.
Pat Keefe and G come off as really good kids. You know how there are some teams you don't want to lose to cuz their kids are classless jerks or punks. Trinity is not one of those teams.
Coach Keefe was getting some good natured ribbing about his animated coaching style.
I did find this out for Migs. They are going to play man to man { no big surprise there}.
They want to stop Lunn. {ya think}
Coach Keefe's top 3 players not on his team. Pelletier, Gendron, and Tim Preston. {all these guys are on my squad too}
Coach Otis gave Keefe a new way to break the press.
Should be a fun day. My call BG 62 Trinity 61. The seven seed works it's magic 2 years in a row.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. Coach Keefe said postgame at the Pitts. Win or lose I think I'll stop in. It's Saturday so Kim will be working.

There seems to be some confusion on pre game location. Some say Holy Grail and others say Libby's.
Please clarify GNG.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
The BG Blond Bombshell said it was at the Holy Grail.
Thanks for clarifying, although if given the choice of pre gaming with you at Libby's or at the Holy Grail with the BG Blond Bombshell, well I'm a good ol Catholic boy and I would tend to gravitate towards a spiritualistic bar on the afternoon of a Catholic Classic......
...... But we'll see.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
Change of plans T@F.
They heard I was going to Libby's so they are off the grail. Rumor has it Mrs Lunn, Mrs Cuipa, and Mrs Bilodeau all want to purchase a pregame drink for me.
I also hope to see the new football coaches from Alvirne there
Everyone is welcome. even T@F.
Should be a great day and a great game.
One thing I know is whoever sings the National Anthem will be hard to beat the kid who did it two years ago. I still get goosebumps thinking about how AWESOME he was.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
I would make a pick in this game, but it's been a LLoooooooonnnngggg season and I just want to enjoy a basketball game.
Libby's sounds good. After watching the D2 Ship I'll probably need a burger and ...... to get me ready for the D1 Ship.
Tulliver has enquired about the start time of the D1 Ship. Could Tulliver make an appearance at UNH tomorrow? Sasquatch and the Loch Ness monster have made more appearances at HS basketball games this season than Tulliver, so proof will be in the Spalding TF 1000 pudding

This just got ratcheted up a notch for me.
My bride isn't going.
Last time I was at UNH without her {30 years ago} there was some serious pregame activities, girls, partying, and I was introduced to the Durham police.
That was a long time ago. I've kinda matured since then, well sorta. Ah, what the heck who am I foolin. I am probably crazier then I was then.
Should be an AWESOME day.
Good luck to Trinity, I just hope my Green and Gold have a tad more luck.

Re: BG vs Trinity Championship
What a great day for basketball! Two #1 Seeds take on #7 Seeds. Its a great weekend for Lucky 7s & Leprechauns! Great day for upsets. Great day to be wearing Green & Gold. Let's hope for two great games today where for 32 minutes every team leaves it all on the floor.
BG has their hands full but time and time again, this group pulls together to somehow get it done. Can't wait to see what BG coach Migs has up his sleeve. Trinity, obviously the favorite. Souhegan has had a great season, as has Pembroke. Len comes up big and Lucky #7 takes it.
Go Underdogs!
