Henderson Steps Down Empty Henderson Steps Down

Post  The Observer Sun Dec 23, 2012 12:06 am

There have been rumblings that Henderson has stepped down as baseball coach at Nashua North High School. I'm a little surprised there is not more chatter. This hurts North's program.

Any thoughts or rumors as to who has/will be applying?

Henderson Steps Down Empty This will stir up my friend T@F"S feathers/

If you read between the lines in today's Telegraph { yep they reported the story,. They still don't know Batista is done, but they got this one}. It doesn't seem like he wanted to leave.

On a different topic. I don't believe a coach, administrator, principal, from one school should ref games in the division where he works.

Henderson refs division one hoops. My thoughts are if you work in a division one school, you shouldn't ref division one games. It just opens up alot of needless conspiracy theories. I know quite a few were floating around opening night at the game Henderson reffed.

I can see the hair's on the back of T@f"S neck {what few he has } standing on end right now. Very Happy

I don't believe for a minute that Henderson intentionally makes bad calls. The subconsious is called that for a reason.

Back on point. I hope the BG coach doesn't leave. I know that North was his dream job.

Not sure a blanket policy is totally fair, but I understand the question. The other official that night was an administrator at a D1 school. In fact there's quite a few officials out there in some way associated with a school or school system. They ask officials to block themselves from situations such as varsity level games involving a school you work or a school you have children at for any time in the last 5 years. Essentially I believe they are asking officials to remove themselves from any situation where they feel they cannot be fair and impartial. I think this is a tricky question because if you put a blanket policy that limits games based on your employment, then you may find less qualified officials doing games. When you step on the court you have your knowledge of the rules, your experience, and your integrity. When any of the 3 ingredients are missing or get called into question it gets ugly very fast.

As for Henderson - becoming the Athletics Coordinator is a good move for him personally - tough for the kids in the baseball program, but it does seem like he has plenty of applicants to replace him and he gets to interview/choose that replacement. Not going to be easy for the replacement to have the popular guy you replaced looking over your shoulder, but it has been done before Shocked Laughing (sorry, I just couldn't resist).

As much as the administrators are supposed to be bipartisan, they never are. I believe the game GNG is referring to is the Bedford-BG game. On a side note, the BCTV broadcasters point out that a certain ref was calling the game extremely tight on BG, but that seems to always happen.

@GNG - On the BG coach leaving, I think the possibility is very low, but I would not be surprised if he threw his name in the hat. The more intriguing guy to watch is BG assistant, Sheedy. He was a finalist for both the BG and South jobs. That would be a big loss for BG in my opinion because of the things he knows about the game and does as a coach.

Depending on who the new coach is could make North a very good team or a very bad one, as we witnessed at South last season. The guy that looks good on paper is never the best in the field.

@GNG - Thank You!

BTW The Telegraph was way behind the ball on this story. Henderson stepped down just after Thanksgiving and it took almost a month for them to report it.

Hederson took the job last spring and was told he could coach and was planning to do so, this all as to do with Aria wanting to do less work.

The biggest problem with public education is the crime does not rise to the top all the good teachers and coaches want to stay in coaching and teaching, and most of the bad was move to Admin jobs.

Henderson will be missed he is a great coach.

A lot of Admin refs D 1 games, not just Henderson and a lot of Alumni do as well, I think if you went to the school you should not be able to do the games either.

T&F why would you yield on this to me?

I agree though that admin do ref their own divisions and I wouldn't single Henderson out.
I was not at the game in question, but have heard the technical was earned and not egregious. (Many peeps told me this)

Fathers, teachers, alum, etc... it'd be pretty hard to go with refs without connections to some team.

Tulliver

Tully, because you have such a gentle non-biased point of view.
